Bought this antenna for my Uniden BC125AT after reading reviews of other buyers recommending to replace the antenna that comes with the scanner. I can normally pick up traffic 15-20 miles away as long as it’s airborne at a decent altitude, 8-10,000ft or higher and have even heard comms from a C-130 on the departure frequency at 23 miles from my location!! I can pick up the tower frequency for my local airport while I’m 1 to 1-1/2 miles away in my car. Great antenna, worth the buy if you have a handheld scanner that you use at your local municipal or international airport!

I was getting this for my Pro 668 digital scanner and I'm trying to monitor high 800mhz pro 25 simulcast system. This is better than the stock antenna but doesn't work better than a generic rubber ducky I had from a previous radio. It is very well made and would probably work well for conventional systems and non simulcast setups on digital so keep this in mind if ordering to monitor a setup like mine. Simulcast here is very touchy and you can move or turn the radio a small amount and improve the quality or turn it to no signal or a garbled mess. Not horribly upset as it was pretty reasonable price and only one way to know for sure if it would work for me.

I was HT-less for many years; a major reason for my purchase of a Yaesu FT-60 last year was having a backup to my cell phone in case I was hiking somewhere and needed help; in NC, we have an excellent network of VHF and UHF machines that can be relied upon to have someone listening in case you get into trouble. I took the Yaesu into the field, and – was this thing working? I couldn’t even reach repeaters I knew had excellent coverage. Once I determined that the radio itself wasn’t broken, I considered how the stock antenna might be improved upon. From my experience with a VX-5R in the mid ‘00s, I knew that I’d rather have a BNC connector living permanently on my HT, if for no other reason than to provide an easy way to hook a J-pole or other “full size” antenna to it if the need arose. Fortunately, Steve Gulyas, KC2BHO, is still making the same SMA-BNC adapters that I had on my previous Yaesu – they’re the best I’ve used. So how does the RH-77CA perform, and should you get one? Without question, this antenna makes my FT-60 usable for the purpose I bought it for. Marginal repeaters become very copyable, strong ones are full quieting, and ones I couldn’t even hear before are accessible. It also helps for out-of-ham-band uses, too; as soon as I installed it, 3-4 more NOAA weather stations were audible. As a hiker, being able to hear as much as I can from surrounding counties could be the difference between being prepared and being caught without warning of a storm. If you have a dual-band HT, get one!

I don't know whether there is an issue with all of these or my antenna has some defect but the tolerances on the female BNC connector at the bottom of the antenna are so tight I can barely get it on and off of my SDS100 without using so much force I'm afraid I'm going to break the antenna mount on the scanner. Every other antenna I use just twists right on and off with ease. Antenna gets great reception but if you are not going to put it on and leave it and are a person that uses multiple antennas throughout the week like I do this may not be for you.

Bought to replace standard antenna on uniden sr30c and so far has worked great, no issues and clear transmissions

Antenna works well, especially a good upgrade for 70cm band compared to my other (shorter) rubber duckie antennas. I tried one of the cheaper Chinese copies of this antenna too, but I think this had a small edge over it in reception even though they are meant to be both the same wave lengths electicly

Improved my Bearcat reception tenfold over the OEM rubber-duck antenna, very pleased with this purchase.
