This is the right ingredient, but the cost is too high.
I couldn't find this anywhere in stores since moving out of an area with Italian markets. The anise oil is great and makes for lovely cookies. Unfortunately the cost of this is four times higher than when I bought in in stores a few years ago.

Awesome product
This is an economical, excellent product. I frequently make pizzelles for my friends and family and I love the flavor. Although the recipe I had for this wonderful cookie called for anise extract, I know anise oil is much more flavorful and much less can be used by cutting the anise extract requirements in half. My boyfriend is so ecstatic, he bought me a new pizzelle iron that does three at a time instead of the traditional two. Thank you so much for providing an economical product that does the job most excellently.

Great anise flavor!
Great anise flavor for my Italian cookies and Pizzelles. With other brands, I had to use a lot of flavoring to get a strong anise flavor. But this is a stronger flavor so you don't have to use as much. So good!

I'd buy again

YUMMY
I have been baking with Virginia Dare Pure Anise Oil for years especially at holiday times and being of Italian decent I grew up with that wonderful aroma through the house and now my kids are enjoying it. I prefer pure anise oil to extract any day it smells stronger and I use less amounts. "Happy Baking"

Best Anise Cookies
I only need a cap full (not a whole bottle of extract) to make the best anise cookies- yum! the only other place I can find this is in the North End of Boston at an Italian specialty store, so it was great to have it delivered to my door!

I don’t “need” the $20 but I am definitely OWED it!
Paid $20 for this over priced oil. Left my house for a total of one hour. Cold, but not THAT cold. Got home and the mail had come. Halfway down my driveway I would smell anise. Opened the mailbox and was blown away by the potency. My mail stunk. Opened the box to find a bottle with a translucent label which was falling off and half of the product frozen solid still in the bottle. It’s obvious the seal broke prior to the product mysteriously froze. The label wouldn’t be translucent (like something that had been covered in oil) if it didn’t get covered in oil. It is also obvious to me that it leaked before it froze. There’s no way a solid turns to a liquid, leaks and then freezes back to a solid in less than an hour. The label wouldn’t be translucent. I care for an outdoor cat and amazingly her thin, cheap, stainless steel water bowl had water (liquid form) in it all day without freezing. No box, bubble wrap or housing around it. Again it wasn’t that cold. Maybe 40 degrees. Conrtacted Amazon and the seller. Not. ONE. WORD. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!
