A nice bit of kit

This little gadget is very good! It’s not too big nor too bulky, and I can grate cheese in less than half the time it takes with a traditional grater. I like that it has 3-different attachments for normal grating, fine grating (Parmesan cheese, etc), and fine slicing. The fine slicer works great for making yummy, low-fat, oven potato & veggie crisps. The only slight inconvenience is the ‘food intake’—it’s a rather small & somewhat inconvenient shape. It’s a narrow-ish rectangle approx. 20mm x 40mm, fixed. The arm that clamps the food down, limits the height of the food you can feed through the mechanism, also. So, one must trim everything to size when using it. If you’re left handed, you’ll have to turn the crank with your right hand, I’m afraid. If you try cranking it with your left-hand, the crank-arm comes off. I’m ambidextrous, which is how I discovered this design shortcoming. Sorry lefties. It’s not ‘perfect,’ but it definitely beats doing grating & fine chopping by hand—‘hands down!’ I’m glad I bought mine, it gets plenty of use in our kitchen.

The item didn't meet my expectations. The blade roll element doesn't seem to be sturdy enough, moves while I'm cutting the veggies. The blade itself isn't sharp enough to deal with carrot. It partially juliennes the carrot, partially breaks into irregular pieces. The mandoline couldn't deal with kohlrabi as well. You need to use much of force to slice or julienne hard vegetables as carrot, parsnip, kohlrabi, which can easily end up injuring yourself. I used the safety gloves but I still felt stressed to use the mandoline anyway. The holder doesn't help much too. Also, the mandoline slides on the countertop, I needed to use an additional silicone mat to keep it in place. I'm very disappointed. The only positive about the product is that you can slice onion or bell pepper quicker as they're soft vegetables and you don't need to use as much force as when cutting swede, carrot and other hard root vegetables. Haven't used it for shredding cabbage though, but hopefully it will deal with it at some point. Cleaning the mandoline isn't a difficult thing, you can easily remove the blade roll.

Not man enough to thick slice potatoes but great for everything else.

Premetto di averla comprata solo per la verdura, ma la fatica che si fa per tritare.. e molta, inoltre bisogna imprimere molta forza ed il prodotto comunque è di plastica. Io ho tritato solo una carota, l'ho dovuta dividere in 3, e faticare per tritarla. Subito dopo l'ho rimpacchettata e rispedita! Preferisco la buon vecchia grattugia!

Nachdem wir die Reibe in den letzten Monaten immer wieder gelegentlich genutzt haben, um Gemüse zu raspeln ist sie seit heute endgültig hin. Der Hebel rastet von hinten in die Reibetülle ein. Das Einrasten passiertmithilfe eines kleinen keilförmigen Plastikstück im Griff. Heute habe ich 2 Karotten geraspelt, am Ende der zweiten war das Plastikstück schon so weit abgerubbelt durch den Gegendruck der zwei KAROTTEN (die ja explizit mit auf der Verpackung sind), dass es zwar einrastet aber sofort wieder aufschnappt, weil der Hebel darüber gleitet wie über eine Unebenheit statt eines Hindernis. Damit 20 Euro für die Tonne, da es auch keinen Ersatzhebel gibt und der kleine Keil nicht ausgetauscht werden kann :(
