Sterkowski "Kashubia Model 1" Merchant Fleet Officer Peaked Cap

I received my Kashubia Model 1 hat today. what a beautiful well made hat!, the stitching and embroidering is excellent, better than I expected. This is an excellent example of quality craftsmanship. Unfortunately it's just a little too big, but I'm going to use some Hat size reducer tap to make it fit. I think this hat would be an excellent gift for anyone.

So I was looking for some nice hats for Winter. It told me I would get the two hats by the end of the year. But I actually got them just today as I am writing this review.It fits nice, and the quality is very nice and comes from Poland. The only thing that is bugging me is that the hat in this review is NOT as it appears in the preview image. In fact, the crown portion is very uneven and not smooth as shown in the picture. The crown binder is cardboard (Image 4). While my Midway cap's binder is hardened plastic (Image 3).Overall, I'm happy I bought this hat, and the "Fiddler cap". The only feed back I would provide toSterkowski, is to consider using something like hardened plastic as the crown binder rather than cardboard to assure best appearance of the crown.

This cap is very well constructed, and shipped with the same care. I'm very happy with every aspect of this purchase.

The hat is splendid but required substantial inserts beneath the headband to make it wearable (I purchased 7 3/8 and should have ordered one size, maybe even two sizes smaller). This is the traditional, old -fashioned seaman's hat that is solidly constructed, and has the appropriate heft of the "real thing." It has a large, embroidered visor, leather sweatband, supple black satin (viscose) lining, and, due to its depth, sits on the head quite firmly, even on a windy day. Just as a hat should sit on the head of the mate taking a stroll on the wing of his tramp's bridge. Most recommended for all who like this type of headgear, and who are tired of generally flimsy "Greek fisherman's hats." Personally, am getting another one, this time in the right size!

This product was of excellent quality but it was very large. I typically wear a 64 cm hat, but the 64 cm hat I ordered was far too large. I could have easily gotten away with a 60-62 cm hat from this company. The product did arrive almost a week early and the company has been very polite with me.

I've worn "Greek Fisherman" style hats for many years (it's kind of my style) and owned Sterkowski in the past and they have always been very high quality. This hat is also excellent quality, especially the stitching; love the design and how it rests. I plan on buying more hates from Sterkowski through Amazon in the future. I was even impressed with how quick it arrived overseas from Poland. The package arrived looking like it survived a war (coming all the way from Poland to the Western USA, some rough handling was expected), but the hat inside was completely intact. The only thing I am a little disappointed with is the inner brace ring to help keep the hat straight and in form: it's basically a small cardboard ring. It wore out after only minor use, especially if it comes into contact with moisture (ie: head sweat on hot days). Other than that, I am very pleased.

These are great hats. I have two now and will probably buy more. Fit is perfect, look is perfect, design? Perfect. Craftsmanship? Perfect. Well worth the cost, in fact worth a lot more. I am ecstatic.

Hat is EXACTLY as pictured. Measure your size and order exact size the way they describe. I measured out at 22 3/4" which converts to 57.785 cm, so I ordered size 58 cm, which was only a slight amount larger, just as they say in their description. Fits perfect!I can't say enough good things about the quality and fit of this hat, it came in its own hat box in a sealed clear plastic wrapping - NOT just packaged (thrown) into a mailing bag and shipped. Actually I am considering ordering another since I like this one so much!Lastly, I can't give much stock to the comments regarding the so-called "cardboard crown liner". It looks more like it may be there only for appearance when on display in a store, to be simply removed after purchase - similar to the cardboard collar stiffener used in packaging a shirt to make it look better. In any case it could very easily be replaced with a piece of 1/4" wide plastic if so desired. In any case, this is a non-issue and I took mine out with no ill effects at all.

Ho ordinato una taglia più piccola (56) e sono stato rimborsato totalmente... L'unico problema è il tempo della spedizione ma ne è valsa davvero la pena, è un cappello unico di manifattura eccelsa. Forse un po' grosso rispetto a quelli che uso di solito ma sicuramente è un cappello "importante".

It's a perfect fit, and it garners nice comments, it's more practical than a baseball cap, the view isn't hindered by the down curve you find on a ball cap, means you can wear it near sun down or sun up, and still have your eyes shaded.

I bought this hat as I have always wanted a similar one . The quality is beautiful and is something to be admired can't fault it as yet it is very comfortable and smart .

More like a Greek fishermen's hat.
