These are absolutely great for a two year-old train enthusiast. He plays with him every time he comes to his grandma‘s house which is twice a week and he will play with him almost all day long if he can.

Grandma got these trains about a year ago and my boys are still playing with them! Had to order a second set so they could share. The magnets are great on these. Their colors are cute but not overly bright. And man are they durable. Overall, they're awesome and work well with any wooden train track set.

I compared train pieces from different manufacturers forever and eventually settled on these ones from Melissa & Doug. They aren't as expensive as the Thomas ones and they aren't as cheapily constructed as some of the knock off brands. They are good in color and weight, the construction of the base pieces seems solid, and they hold up to my rough and tumble boys. The magnetic attachments are fantastic and easy to use. My kids have a lot of fun playing with these. The only criticism I have is one that seems to show up in a good handful of reviews. The wheels. They aren't as sturdy as I would like and they don't move as smoothly around the track as my TODDLER would like. If you hook up a couple of cars you'll probably be okay, but with a longer string, you're going to lose cars around the curves and your poor train is going to be a derailed mess...as will likely be your melting down mini-engineer. These do fantastic on a straight track or a nice, easy oval, but any kind of "s" curve can be a bit of a headache. For the parent of a kid who likes to make "hills", this has been an ongoing struggle, but he's learning to work with the kinks in the design. Overall, we're happy with these train cars, but if a redesign occurs...please for the love of all things toddler, fix the wheels.

What a nice surprise!! Cute little wooden box to organize all the cars into. Nice to have a place for each one. All the cars are nicely painted and smooth, perfect for little hands!!! No assembly required, I think they'll last for years!

Very expensive and took 3 weeks to deliver. My son did not like it much. Quality is good.
