These hearts of palm do not taste EXACTLY like potatoes, but they are great. They have a similar flavor and texture. No chemical smell or taste at all. Will definitely order again.

So I rarely take the time to review anything I get at amazon but I just couldn't let this go. I am a big fan of Palmini pasta and rice so I thought I'd give this a try.First of all, it comes in an easy to use zip top pouch and that's were the positives end for me. The second I opened the pouch i was overwhelmed with it's VERY pungent odor. It's not appetizing at all. I followed the cooking instructions and microwaved it for a minute or so with a couple of tablespoons of butter. I couldn't get past the first bite and spit it out. If you're following a low carb diet there are better and fresher alternatives. Nothing will 100% replace old fashioned mashed potatoes but this product is not even in the ball park. Don't waste your money since this stuff isn't cheap. Find another alternative that works for you and tastes better.

This is very finely mashed (and strained?) with the texture of baby food. It tastes like mashed squash to me. Not unpleasant but would like a more neutral taste with some texture that doesn't overpower what's being served with it.

This hearts of palm mash is a surprisingly good mashed potato alternative. It has a nice, creamy texture and a subtle, slightly sweet flavor. I enjoyed it with gravy and roasted vegetables. It's definitely a keeper for low-carb meals.

Added butter, some garlic powder and a little cheese to make the taste more palatable. 9 year old ate it but only was willing to taste it after hearing it had cheese in it... Used it with a roast, and it is very very creamy in texture. Still not worth the price.

Opened the pouch, yellowish tinge, put off by a smells sour, sealed it up and tossed in fridge, hoping to find out if this is normal before I warm it in microwave and try a bite, I eat a lot of squash and this is nowhere near that, nore does it look like mashed potatoes.

The media could not be loaded. The consistency and taste are nothing like mashed potatoes. I've had another brand of palm mashed potatoes that were excellent, so I thought I'd give these a try. These have the consistency of tahini or almond butter, it should be marketed for those types of uses/ substitutes.Doesn't taste bad, just not a side dish worthy product. With some ingenuity, other uses would be more suited for this product.
