Smart Garage Door Opener Remote for Apple Home Kit

To be honest, I thought twice before purchasing it as I don’t have the expertise nor the energy to fix a smart garage door opener. I’ve watched few videos on YouTube and tried to do it myself, and decided that if it doesn’t work from the first couple of attempts, I will be returning it. Honestly, it worked excellently from the first attempt, installation was a very easy exercise, even I used Meross technical support to guide me how to connect the wires and they responded in few hours time. I strongly recommend this garage door opener and really helped me in every aspect. I have an iPhone and I’m trying with shortcuts to make some rules to help me open the garage automatically by the time I’m 100 meters away from home and to close automatically too. Didn’t succeed yet, but determined to make it happen. Impressive!

However, it works with another type of car door garage, mine slides to the side, not pulled to up, I can’t return it now lol

The device is easy to use and install. The only issue is that the app includes a button to the Aliexpress shopping web page on the Home page.

Great product. I've owned many meross products over the years - smart indoor plugs, smart outdoor plugs, and smart water leak detectors. They have all worked very well with Apple HomeKit. Truly easy plug-n-play technology. When meross asked me to test this product, I was more than happy to oblige. The device is small (about the size of two packs of cards) and weighs next to nothing. You can use it to control one garage door opener. I believe meross has a version that can control multiple garage door openers too, but this only controls one. This device transforms your simple garage door opener into a smart garage door opener which gives you the advantage of opening remotely, getting notifications when it opens or closes, and allowing your garage door to be a part of whole-house automations (I use Apple Shortcuts to close the door at a certain time every night - just in case I forget after a long day). It took me only ten minutes to do the initial set up. An additional ten minutes were needed to tidy up my work (stapling up wires and securing them with cable ties). Fortunately, I did have a free electrical outlet near the garage door opener. Then it's just hooking up two wires and running a wire with the door-open/close detector to the garage door. The hardest part was getting HomeKit set up. You must have your phone on a 2.4GHz network (my Orbi has a separate one for the internet-of-things) and be within range. After three tries, I got the device set up (I don't think this was the fault of the meross device but rather my network or my iPhone). It's been over a week now (I recorded the video on day one). And the performance is solid. What's great is I can now open the garage door halfway down the street. This means the door will be open when I get to my house - no waiting in the car. Also, HomeKit lets you know when the door has been opened or closed. No more pulling out of the neighborhood and wondering if I closed the door or not anymore. And because I can now open the door anywhere, when my teenager came home early without their key the other day, I was able to open the garage door remotely from work. I can see this coming in handy when receiving deliveries from Amazon too. I hope you found this review useful. Thanks!

Great Product. Integrated easily with Apple phone and Alexa. You need to first setup Meross Account and then link it with either Apple Home, Google Home or Alexa Skill. I had issues with PIN not set with Google integration. I will describe how to sort this further down in this review. Remote operation by your smart phone assistant: The remote operation from your assistant will only work if you have a "Home Hub" such as Alexa EcoShow, Google or Apple Speakers or other compatible devices. Otherwise your phone needs to be connected to the same WiFi network as the Meross device. If you are hoping to ask Alexa or Siri to open your garage as you approach your home, bear in mind, you need the appropriate infrastructure. What if you don't have home hub? If you don't have a "Home Hub", you can still operate it remotely from the Meross App but not from smart phone assistant. Installation:- Installation is pretty straight forward. Took me some time to figure out where should I place the sensor. After lot of deliberation, I just installed it on the garage opener dolly (the thing form which the red emergency release string hangs) and it works perfectly. It also made it possible for me to run the cable right on the top of metal channel in which the dolly runs and run the sensor cable all the way to motor unit. Its almost made the installation invisible as I have also hidden the Meross unit also on the top of the Motor Unit. Connection with the the Tiltmaster 100 (opener) was straight forward. I needed to adjust the opening time in the the app setting, else it keeps giving a false "stuck" alarm. The opening time that you should set in the app should be 3-5 seconds more than greater of closing or opening time. In my case he actual opening time was 15 sec and closing time was 25 sec. I set it to 30 sec and the false alarms stopped. Google Integration Issue: After integrating your Meross and Google accounts, open the Meross App, you will see a a garage door tile in the app. Click on the white area of the tile (avoiding the grey garage image). This will open the device settings. Under settings, go to Amazon alexa and Google assistant and make sure PIN is enabled and then set the PIN. This should resolve the issue. PS: You need PIN for opening the garage and not for closing the garage. When you integrate this with Alexa, Alexa allows you to set a pin directly from the Alex App. I have also set the Alexa Eco Show to announce when the Garage Door is opened and Closed. Unfortunately, when the garage door is shut for many hours, Alexa randomly announced "Garage Door Closed" every 3-4 hours. I got jump scared at 3 am when Alexa made a loud announcement that "Garage Door is Closed". I disabled the close announcements there and then! The open announcements still work fine. There is a new firmware for the device after I installed it but so far I did not get an opportunity to test if it has fixed the random "closed" announcement issue . Hope this helps.
