Replaced my AMD965 cooling fan perfectly
My 12 year old cooling fan died and the heat buildup fried my AMD Quad core 965 cpu. I upgraded to an AMD 6 core and used this fan to replace my old one. I installed the fan on my original heatsink with no problems or modifications. I did not use the low profile heatsink that came with the fan because the 6 core is a 125 watt CPU and my research indicated that the low profile heatsinks were good for 90 watt CPU's. I could not find any CPU wattage information for this unit. It used to make a lot of fan noise when I powered up because the fan automatically ran full speed until the motherboard controller slowed it down. I found a BIOS setting that eliminated that and the CPU normally runs between 26 to 28 degrees C and the fan is very quite.

Cheap but acceptable
You're getting what you pay for. Feels flimsy. Like I could easily bend the metal with my fingers, but when I attached it to the motherboard I was happy with it. It did come pre-thermal pasted which was strange. I read another review where they stated they didn't remove the old thermal paste. I guess they thought it was a used product which it isn't. Size wise it is pretty small. Like just double the squared size of the CPU, which if you're short on space is really nice. Had a heatsink once that was too big for the PC case. Modern PCs are damn near silent. Sound wise It's as loud as a 90s PC. Not that big of a deal.

About this for my desktop computer
My desktop computer didn't have an internal fan just the one on the CPU. I was having problems with it shutting down. So I thought it was a bad CPU fan which it was I replaced it and after a while of running my computer shut down again so when I went in there to check I found that the hard disk were really hot. So I got this cooling fan to put into the case. I mounted it underneath the hard disks and I've hadn't had that troublesome. It's quiet and it puts out a lot of air. And it keeps my heart just cool

I do not trust the cooling fan
The fan ran very slowly and never changed speeds. When I touched the fan blades the fan stopped and wouldn't restart automatically (weak motor). I've had cooling fans if you tried to touch the blades while running you'd lose a knuckle! I tried it on two motherboard to verify it wasn't a MB issue. I almost burnt up a CPU with this fan. Bottom line is I returned the fan because I could not trust it.

Good cheap fan!
The heatsink was already coated with thermal paste, but it looked thin so I added an additional drop. Fan installed easy and plugged right in to the mobo. It was quiet, but I already have four fan in the case so there was no additional noise to be heard. Great for a simple computer, not overclocked.

Does The Job
I have an old, home-built computer that uses an older AMD processor. The original CPU fan had begun making an unacceptable level of noise. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a fan, but I did want to correct the noise. This fan was inexpensive and was touted as a silent fan, so I bought and installed it. Works just fine. Nice and quiet.

Fan is very noisy.
When I boot the computer, the fan is very noisy and takes a minute or so to reach full RPM. This is after the computer has been shut down for a few minutes.
