The pictures were taken from the day I started using this ionizer. My old one stopped preforming after year and half so I got this one. Just using this only wont solve the problem..you still need to clean the filter and use the pool pump every day, plus vacuum the pool floor and walls often. Then, you have to change copper rods every three months and it’s about $50 for a pair. For now, the only chemicals I use are bleach and pool tablets. I think this is still a very good product and I am happy with the results.

I’ve got a fairly large above ground pool and it has been a pain for me to get in a good rhythm concerning adding the correct chemicals consistently. This has seemingly helped me prevent another algae bloom. Unfortunately, I’ve had quite a few because the pump that came with the pool is undersized. I’m planning on replacing the pump but it’s not a cheap endeavor and in the meantime this is helping to prevent the blooms that were almost like clockwork every couple of weeks. This is definitely doing something as I’ve noticed the copper rod being changed to a bluish bunch of gunk. I’ve been cleaning this out weekly and I’m checking the copper levels with 2 sets of strips. I don’t want it too high because it can cause it to turn green and your only option to correct that is to remove water (as I’m aware, at least). According to the product specs, this Ionizer should introduce a copper level of .4 to .9 ppm in the pool water, which, when combined with the chlorine, it should maintain a pool of up to 35,000 gal in crystaline condition. I have a 17,000 galon pool which was always so clear that could see any foreign matter in the deep end (7 feet) without any issue. 2 weeks after I started using the product, I tested the water and found that the copper level was only 0.1 ppm. I cleaned the unit per the recommendations and gave it more time to see if the copper level would increase. By the 3rd week, the water had begun to get cloudy and a subsequent Cu test proved that it was still 0.1ppm. I have cleaned my filter and added more clorine to no avail, pool is still cloudy. I bought the product because I believe in a green environment (I have solar panels) and thought to have my pool with no or minimum chemicals. I guess I was wrong. BIG disappointment!

Bought this last year and noticed significant drop in chlorine use. The pool water also stayed clear. Highly recommend putting one in your pool.
