Glass bowl has many uses.
Great quality heavy glass bowl. I use it daily to soak and clean produce and especially leafy vegetables. Perfect size. Spinner works great. It’s an essential daily tool in my kitchen.

Beautiful, durable, but heavy!
This is a gorgeous salad spinner! Especially if you need to have it on the counter. It is huge! Definitely enough space for separate parts of a dinner salad for a family. We use it for 2 people for side salads easily. It’s easy to clean *if you are using a dishwasher!* I am a weakling and the glass bowl itself is pretty heavy and cumbersome to wash (slippery, big, etc). The seal is good, no water comes out when you’re drying the food. The lid stays on (I spin it and keep prepping other stuff). You can just wipe out the glass bowl and use it for the salad, so it’s versatile. It LOOKS good, and is a quality product imo. I will say it is not physical disability friendly! Too heavy to say yes to that

Had the plastic, love the glass!
We had the plastic version of this and loved it for many years (well over 6 years). But eventually, the plastic bottom developed some cracks and leaked. So, my wife purchased this (from Amazon) and to this glass one has some great advantages and we love it. Four great things about the glass: 1) It stays put when spinning. I am posting a video and the only reason I put it on a towel underneath is because the bottom was wet. The glass is a true plus compared to the plastic one, which I'd have to hold in place or it would sail off of the counter. I can really crank on this one and get most the water off. 2) When done, we can keep the lettuce (or whatever else we're cleaning) in the basket/colander and place the whole thing in the fridge both the cover on and it serves as a crisper better than the plastic IMO, because the glass is thick and stays nice and cold (and holds that chill for a while when on the counter too). 3) You can use the glass as salad bowl to serve and it's just nicer than the plastic, which got scratched over time. 4) The glass is easier to clean IMO when you do use as a salad bowl and need to get the salad dressing cleaned out. It is heavier of course, which is fine for us. However I will say it's heavy enough I would not suggest it for an elderly person. Worth the price with the benefit of less plastic in the world too.

Stop looking, just buy it.
Amazing! Gave up and junked the plastic one I had for years. Can’t go wrong with oxo tools. I love that this bowl can also be used to serve the salad or anything else. It’s not a dedicated tool only useful for cleaning greens it’s an amazing mixing bowl too! Heavy duty glass, big size, and spins like a mo-fo with one press! Cleans nice and easy. It’s a great starter item for a new cook. Bake cookies and have a salad!

Heavier than expected but good product overall
I used to think salad spinners were a waste of money (I had a plastic OXO one years ago that I wasn't overly impressed with) but this one performs pretty well. It has quite a large capacity, which comes in handy when you're meal-prepping or making large smoothie batches. I knew it being glass would make it heavier but it is still a lot to handle, especially if you have arthritis, joint hypermobility, etc., so bear that in mind before purchasing. I recommend getting silicone grip gloves as a precaution if you do go this route. I was specifically looking for glass because it's easier to clean, doesn't absorb odours, and chemically inert (compared to plastic) and this was the only one that fit the bill on Amazon. It's got fairly solid construction -the glass is quite thick- and while I am careful with it, I'd wager it could probably tolerate rougher handling. Not really sure what purpose the 'brake' is supposed to serve but it's there if you like that sort of thing. I took off one star because it's not the most user-friendly weight and a bit over-priced for what it is.

Pretty heavy, but I would buy again
Beautiful, heavy glass bowl. Mechanism works perfectly. I am proud to serve my salad in such a nice bowl.

Better than the plastic version
I love how you can remove the spinner parts and just use it as a serving bowl. This added functionality means I can use this as a multipurpose tool which is great if you have a small size kitchen with limited space. The spinner part is very easy to use, just throw your chopped veggies into the bowl and push down on the spinner part. The quality/durability seems great on the glass as well as the spinner parts. The bowl itself is large in size and can fit a huge family sized salad.

Easy to Use + Huge Capacity = Meal Prep Game Changer
After America's Test Kitchen labeled the OXO salad spinner as the best of its kind some years ago, I added this to my wishlist. I especially love the glass outer bowl, which I have used twice now as the serving dish for my salad. There are plastic components in this, including the spinner dish below the colander. The spinner gets serious momentum, which makes it excellent for both cleaning and drying greens. A 6-quart bowl is quite large: 24 cups, or over 5.5 L, which this last weekend held 3 romaine hearts plus a head of iceberg lettuce. I love how the lock allows you to compress the lid for storage, and also that most components are dishwasher safe. This is making salads more feasible and affordable in my kitchen. Love!
