Genius idea: I wish I had discovered these years ago
An awesome bit of kit to "hard-wire" your dashcam without actually hard-wiring it.Pro: ridiculously easy to installPro: avoids untidy cigar lighter adaptersPro: no need to go near your fuse box, therefore avoid the grey area of whether it is a modification to your car that needs to be disclosed to insurance companiesCon: none.

A lot easier than hard wiring
At first when I connected this to the OBD port I thought that it wasn't working... Give it a couple of minutes then it starts to work. It has the option to turn off parking mode but what's the point of that as yiu might as well just use the cigarette lighter charger...SIMPLES really..Took a while to connect in Vauxhall Adam but finally did... This is the 2nd one as the other is fitted yo VW Passat...

Great alternative to hardwiring
I had my Blackvue dashcam hardwired into my previous car but when I changed cars I really couldn’t be bothered to go through the hassle of hardwiring it, and I was worried about invalidating the warranty, so I just used the cigarette lighter. However, this meant I didn’t have the brilliant parking mode on the dashcam any more, and then somebody clipped and damaged the front of my car while it was parked so I decided to hardwire it. Then I spotted this device and decided to give it a go. It was so easy, just run the cable around the trim to hide it, plug into the OBD connector and I can now use the parking feature on the dashcam again. It runs for about 7 hours before it switches the dashcam off because of the car battery running low, but that’s fine for public parking. I don’t need it at home so just switch it to normal mode then. Very happy with this.

Doesn’t work
Purchased two of these to go with the two BlackVue cameras that I purchased for our family vehicles. I tried one of them in my Range Rover and the other in my wife’s BMW, neither of them worked. Returned for a refund.I ended up using the cars own power sockets to wire the cameras up and they worked fine.

Large profile so may need an obd2 extension cable.
Fitted one to my Ford Ranger 2018 Wildtrak. Powers on my 750S on both parking and normal modes. Only thing I did not like is its large size so I cannot get the fuze cover back on so had to buy a low profile obd2 extension cable to allow me to move the connector so that the cover fits again. However, its better now having my lighter power socket back again so would recomend it.

I have picked up the wrong series up :( and I give it a 3 star because I know the S-series are amazing

Works perfectly in my Kia Stinger
This was really easy to install in my Kia Stinger with my Blackview DR-900S dashcam. In accessory mode, the power stays on for about 5 minutes, then turns off. In parking mode, the power has stayed on for a few days between car starts. Other than a battery discharge warning once (the car started perfectly fine) there were no issues at all.I now use parking mode when parked away from home, and leave it in accessory mode when at home.
