Soft, comfortable, and helpful!
These pencils were the first pick at first for correcting a pencil hold, but if a lot of correction is needed a different tool may be needed. However, these are still number one choice where a lot of correction is not needed and more support is required Or, just a more comfortable grip compared to the round pencil is desired since the shape is a lot easier to use than the round pencils. The pencils are comfortable (not as comfortable as the original Ticonderoga soft-touch, but still softer than most pencils) and easy to use. The size, shape, and the sturdiness of the pencil is great! The eraser is one of the best I have ever used. The sharpener does work, but it does take some practice and some resharpening at times. So, your pencil can be used up quicker than normal. It does seem to depend sometimes on the pencil that you pull out of the box; some are easier than others. I also have other sharpeners that it works well with and you don't have to do that with. Overall, a good product!

Larger Width Than Their Standard Tri-Write Pencils But Fantastic! Found a Sharpener Too!
These are the most comfortable pencils to write with that I've found. That said, they aren't the standard pencil size and not Ticonderoga Triwrite width either. These are a medium width pencil that requires a large-hole rotary pencil sharpener. They aren't huge by any means but just that much larger that the triangular shape requires a bigger pencil sharpener. Other than that they are amazingly comfortable if your hands tire from normal pencils. If you like a wood pencil these Triconderoga's can't be beat.As for a sharpener... Using a single bladed twist sharpener with a large hole fails miserably. It manages the wood case fine but wrecks the leads. After searching high and low I finally found this one,https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B001V1ZG9C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1It's a manual rotary sharpener that can be used detached from any surface and still needs only your 2 hands. It does a terrific job and I highly recommend it to go with these pencils. If price is a factor you might try the PaperMate 1.3mm triangular plastic case refillable pencils. They are comfortable, refillable and cheaper than these but the erasers are the pink pearl type which chew through paper.

I can't believe I am rating a pencil either!
Someone asked me when I was telling them to buy this pencil what was so special about a pencil. Well - This pencil rocks. It rocks so much, that not only am I buying multiple packs for myself but also to give out as gifts to several new college students as upcoming Christmas gifts! The barrel is not too large that it feels bulky but is larger than most standard pencils. The grip is so comfy with a matte rubbery finish. It feels so strong and sturdy. I go through one pencil every couple of days and in the 1st week of school I purchased a number of different pencils including the regular black Ticonderoga which I loved as well but have been knocked to 2nd place since finding theses. I have used Dr.P pencils which are great however, once I got this bad boy in my hands I was hooked! Although automatic pencils are more economical in the long run this pencil is completely worth the investment. My hands do not cramp up using this pencil, nor do I get the calused fingers from regular pens/pencils. Also it's kinda cool for me because I work while on the couch and when I put the pencil on the pad it doesn't roll around because of it's triangular shape which seems like it would be akward to write with but is not even noticable. I also have many sharpeners under my belt and the $2.59 from Staples is excellent for this and all other penci sharpening needs.

Freaky, perspective-shifting pencil
Pro:These pencils incredibly comfortable to use. I call them freaky, perspective-shifting pencils because when I pick one up it reminds me of my 9-year olds face when she picked one up. It looked familiar to her, but when she picked it up she immediately knew her life had been forever changed. She approves of them as well, and even asked why all pencils weren’t made this way. An answer to which I knew not. And now when I pick one up it causes me to contemplate all the things I don’t know, and a desire to learn more.In addition to provoking the desire to contemplate the sheer vastness of the body of knowledge available to us as humans these pencils can be used to write!Oh triangular pencils is there anything you can’t do?Cons:The sharpener that comes with them sucks, however I use it to get them started then use a bit of sandpaper to get it where I want. This is a temporary fix while I await a new sharpener.

The best pencils for elementary grade students
I've become a little bit of a pencil hobbyist while searching for pencils to help my boys with handwriting. I have found that the Dixon my first tri-write pencils were the best handwriting tool when my boys were toddlers. Now that my son is in first grade, we have moved to the intermediate size. These Dixon Tri-conderoga pencils will be perfect from now until middle school. The triangular barrel helps him grip as he writes faster and more content and the rubber barrel also prevents his fingers from sliding. The intermediate size is a comfortable and age-appropriate size so that his hands do not cramp up while holding a smaller barrel. I have just made my 3rd order of these pencils. As for pencil sharpeners - I would encourage parents of young children to invest in an electric sharpener or spend $10 for a decent dual hole sharpener. A good sharpener can make all the difference as does a decent quality pencil.
