The knife cut through our son's wedding cake wonderfully..like a very long butter knife, the edge is slightly serrated so the cake cutting was excellent.

The knife is very sharp and its handle is terrific. My bagel knife seems a little sharper, but not as versatile as this one, and I have use it to cut veal steak.
