Is the glass tempered?

Hi SB Reads, Not that I am aware of, but from the appearance of the glass, I would suspect that said dome is not constructed of tempered glass. Regards, J-P

Can this dome be put in the dishwasher to clean?

Yes, it is just glass. Please know that this dome is very large bigger than most of my cake plates and won't fit.

Does this really weigh almost 4 lbs.?

I love this dome because it is so light- there is no way it weighs 4 lbs. I don't have it with me to weigh but I would say it is the lightest cake dome I've ever had. I have several glass cake domes and they are really really heavy. This one is light and easy to move around. I LOVE it and highly recommend it.

Would this fit a 12" cake stand?

I think so! I am not with my dome or stands right now, so I can't confirm for sure. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dome- it is my favorite and it works on all of my cake stands so I don't think you'll have a problem. I'm pretty sure all my cake stands are 12". Sorry I can't be more definitive. It is such a great dome, I highly highly recommend it!
