Still early days, had Solomon boots and trainers before so the quality is as good as expected. Little stiff at the moment but only been worn once hopefully they will ease as they get worn in. Just an update these have been worn a few times now. Sadly They haven’t softened up or eased at all, I’ve worn them for a good few hours for a few days now and by the end of the day I honestly can’t wait to get them off. They are by far the most uncomfortable boots I have ever owned.

These boots are fantastic and is honestly the best money I have spent on an item. I have now trekked the Yorkshire dales 3-peaks, and the UK national 3-peaks challenges with these, and put them through heavy rain, mud, rocky trails, and long distant walks. Through it all, they have been extremely comfortable and COMPLETELY water proof (while walking through heavy rain and muddy puddles, my feet were the only dry part of my body). They feel solid and provide all-round support across the entire foot including around the ankle preventing strains and over 26 mile treks across mountains, did not give me any blisters. They may feel heavy, but I found this a good thing because it gave me the confidence to know they will support twists and prevent ankle injuries on uneven ground. If I have to think of a future improvement, it would only be to have a better grip on the undersole, as on wet and loose gravel, it was a little slippery.

This item was a replacement for a previous Salomon boot that performed very badly. It was not fit for purpose. I am giving them a second chance due to their illustrious history. I hope I can report more favourably in a year’s time.

Live them

Got these direct from maker, made a video as they won’t look as gorgeous for very long. Weighing 660g about 40g more than my old but worn down pair of same name. They instantly feel more substantial than the old ones. And technical differences too. A lace loop atop the tongue makes for easier thick sock entrance. And those black tabs you simply pull apart when laces undone to release the lower laces. No more cold finger trying to get underneath tight lace to release your lower foot. And I can smell the leather as well. After initial treadmill use to confirm size and fit, I went on a long shopping walk about two/three miles. Up and down hills, deliberately walking on stone egg pavement or blind persons approach to crossings. Great grip and barely felt ripples. And all this whilst wearing thin cycling socks. Looking forward to none solid ground walking though dreading the loss of their good looks. Think I’ll keep my bicycle jet wash ready for homecoming. Just need that planet jet stream to edge its way northwards for more thorough testing.

I have had several pairs of these walking boots . However this latest pair purchased on the 5th Jan 24 I’m am now unable to use . They nip to the point where I simply can’t walk in them , different place on each boot though the left on the top of my foot it worse . Done 30 miles no better . Too late to return , won’t be buying another pair . Cost £224 .

I have been a long time fan of Solomon boots they have always fit well and are comfortable. Usually they last years… and I’m hard on shoes. The quality has declined a bit with each generation but over all still a great boot. Also they are very light.

Ich liebe die Schuhe von Salomon. Es gibt meine Größe (49 1/3) und die passen, sind bequem und sehr gut verarbeitet. Der Hersteller macht alles richtig.

Superb in every way. A problem with the laces undoing even with very strong tightening. Otherwise wonderful. I only can wish that a quarter of any other of my possessions were as good.

It is true to size unlike other Salomon models which runs narrow. It has great cushioning and provides ample ankle support for longer duration. The laces are long enough to tie and comfortable to walk. It is not recommended for daily use but can be worn for bike rides, 3-5 days trips, trekking and hiking. Not recommended for sunny days as the feet runs hot after an hour due to 6” shaft height, no place vent the heat. Definitely worth the price and catch everyone’s eyes during outings.
