Q: Can this be use in a conventional oven?

No, this can not be used in a conventional oven. This is made from our ZetexPlus® filament fiberglass yarn and treated with a proprietary vermiculite coating and should not be near food or ingested. Common applications for our fabric include: High Temperature Gloves, Proscenium Curtains, Insulation Blankets, Welding Blankets and High Temperature Lagging. Q: Would this protect quartz counter tops from oven-hot pans? How about under a toaster?

Seems reasonable. It protects against plumber’s torches and flame. I have quartz Silestone, and it’s pretty impervious stuff. I have had no problems with hot pans, though I do try to let them cool a little and not completely trust that it won’t mar things. One thing about this product is that it gets beat up, especially with its intended use as a flame shield.

Q: Would this be good for camping? Taking things on and off the fire? Or does it get slippery when wet?

The manufacturer says this should not be near food as it contains things like vermiculite, there are much better options like grilling gloves.

Q: Can this be used on a suppressor - like on a firearm???
