High value; hugely functional
I spent days trying to find an affordable, lightweight tent for backpacking. Unless you shell out $300+ you're not going to find anything. That is, unless you're fortunate enough to stumble onto this little bad boy. This thing is high value. As the picture shows, it'll comfortably fit two. I actually did two trips with myself and two kids (that's three). We had to lay sideways, but it wasn't too bad. The design is simply outstanding: great stitching, quality material, well thought-out zippers. The pegs are a nice, lightweight aluminum. It takes 5 or 6 minutes to setup and is lightweight enough to take backpacking. We did a 10-miler with this very comfortably. What's the catch? There really isn't one. Basically, it just doesn't have a frame. It uses a long paracord-type string that you can either (1) connect to two trees either side of the tent with a truckers hitch knot (kind of like setting up a hammock), or (2) you just place your hiking poles or a sturdy stick you find laying on the ground on either entrance to the tent. When you stabilize the sticks by pegging down your guide rope, this thing is as sturdy as any $300-500 REI special. Because it's so simple, there's less that can break. I'm thinking of switching out all my tents for two or three of these. If you're backpacking or just tent camping at a campsite, this will serve you very very well.

Lightweight and reliable!
Used this tent on a backpacking trip in Havasupai. Bought it last minute to shave off some weight from my pack. This was 2-3 lbs lighted than the tent we had, which in backpacking terms really means a lot on a long hike. Worked great, was easy to set up, and so affordable. Other campers were shocked we got it from Amazon as it looked so nice and worked well. It rained a little on our trip and the tent did not get wet! We were waiting for the water to seep through but it never really did. Seems to be moderately water resistant which was great. Not sure how it would fare in a downpour but we don't plan on using it for extreme weather conditions anyways. Definitely get this tent!

Great lighter weight tent.
Not a bad tent at all. This is my first single wall and trekking pole tent, and I'm pretty happy so far.The first test was of course waterproofing. I set the tent up in my backyard and put it under the sprinkler for 30min. No leakage anywhere in the tent. I was really surprised by this as I figured I'd at least have some leakage in a cheaper tent. So at least for now, they taped the seams well and it held up in the rain.Knowing I'm not going to wake up drenched, I took it to the trail. We camped at just over 6000', had sustained 20mph winds, with gusts around 30mph, and light rain. Tent held up great. The only issue we had was condensation. there's no side mesh in this tent, so the flow only airflow is between the ends. We probably could have set it up to catch a little more airflow, but when it was 28* and high winds we were cold enough. The condensation at freezing temps led to frost in the tent. Other than to stop breathing, I don't think there was much to do about that.So why 4 stars? Because the tent seems to always sag in the middle. No matter how high I propped the poles up or how tight we made the corners, the middle section always fell in some. With 2 people in the tent (I'm 6', my son is about 55"), this meant that the tent wall often was touching our sleeping bags even though we weren't against the walls at the bottom. With the condensation, that meant damp sleeping bags (we were able to wipe it all off with a camp towel though). So I just wish it had a loop on either side, part way up to be able to pull the tent out some on the sides. Other than that, I hope this tent lasts us for many more trips to come.

Worked for Philmont
Took this to Philmont Scout ranch for a 12 day trek. Worked great for me. Based on other reviews, I did pre-seal the top seams ahead of time.Tent was light weight since it uses your treking poles. I used a Tyvek ground cloth below. We had one day with an hour of rain/hail and did not leak. One entire afternoon/evening of rain and did not leak.During non-rain nights (all but one), I would leave each end screen closed all night. And the end flaps I would leave one flap open and one closed on each end. Making sure each end was opposite the other. This allowed the tent to “catch” the wind from all directions keeping the inside of the tent always dry from breathing condensation. It is lightweight, so strong winds would get a little loud inside, but was never worried about it structurally. The tent was big enough for my mat in the center, and dry bags with limited gear inside. It is low, so you do need to crawl in and out.

NOT WATERPROOF ... Will not even hold morning mist
Tent assembles nicely, it's lightweight (but not as much as I thought it would). The big problem is that it's not waterproof.I went camping to a beach campground and the morning mist, which was not that much, got inside the tent. This tent WILL NOT work with light rain. I'm returning this item because even thought it was super comfy for me (one person), and I believe it would be able to hold two relatively small people like myself (I'm 5.4") it does not serve the purpose I was looking for. Also, it was hot during the day, and inside the tent was SO difficult to breathe even though I had both sides opened and just the net closed to avoid getting too many bugs inside.

Well made classic cheap pup tent.
Classic pup tent. Cheap, but well made. It should last years with proper care. Two problems: First, it should have side pull-outs. I added my own, which gives the tent a more taut shape and better strength against the wind. Also, it is well waterproofed and seal sealed, except for where the hanging loop is sewn to the ceiling. That area, and the sewn parts in the top corners, need to be seem sealed. The floor corners held up well and remain waterproof. Condensation is minimal for a single wall tent due to the wide screen door at both ends. But this also allows for some wind to come through the tent. Air (but so far no rain) can flow through the tent like a gusty breeze. If you're buying a simple pup tent, you get what you get. But this one is very well made.
