Super gentle, loving it
***I will edit this review after trying this for at least a month, or til it runs out; whichever comes first! I will include before and after photos of my arm.The following review is after a week of usage.-Packaging-It came in a nice recyclable box, with a soapberry and accompanying attractive mini brochure about the Berry. The information was very interesting, and I look forward to trying to use the husk as a natural soap! Even moreso looking forward to planting my own soapberry seed!-First impression-The bottle has clean design, you can see the lotion inside clearly, and the pump is easy to pop up after a twist or so.Expiration date is printed clearly on the side of the bottle.Bottle itself is PET and recyclable. The size is modest, not so little that I felt this was overpriced for the volume, not so much that if this turned out not to be a good match for my skin that I’d feel guilty for throwing a ton of product out.The pumping mechanism itself is smooth, and hasn’t given me any problems after about a week of daily use.-Ingredients list-The ingredients on the bottle matches what is advertised on this listing; the ingredients list is what attracted me to this product. So delightfully transparent, short, and sweet. So many gentle, soothing, skin-loving ingredients.I’m honestly shocked more people in the skincare community aren’t ranting and raving about this— maybe because it’s targeted for the body? Who knows. Tree to Tub deserves more credit.Very clean! Free of silicones, sensitizing fragrances, and a great deal of other undesirable ingredients that are somehow incredibly difficult to avoid in American skincare products these days.Even in products marketed to be gentle or dermatologist approved, it is hard to avoid many sensitizing ingredients that are banned from skincare products in nearly every other first world country. The pH balance is also worth mentioning, as it is close to skin’s natural pH, and allows it an easier chance to heal. The fact it’s cruelty free, vegan, fair trade, and eco friendly is a huge plus in my book as well.-Formulation/texture/absorption-The cream is extremely light and fresh, and absorbs quickly into my skin. No oily or filmy textures left behind, no scent to worry about.Even on my first use, it was extremely soothing on my irritated skin.I’m using this as a body lotion, mainly for treatment of a skin condition that is most obvious on my arms, but also across the legs.I apply it in two layers following my showers, as it absorbs very well. Since I want to keep the moisture it provides after showers, I follow it with a few drops of cold-pressed marula oil to seal it in.I also apply the lotion between showers occasionally, and onto my hands at the end of the day to combat hand sanitizer-dryness.If you are used to body lotions containing silicones, you may think this lotion’s fast absorption means it’s doing a bad job, or isn’t moisturizing;please don’t misinterpret the near-instant silky soft feeling of some products as delivering moisture to your skin. For those like me with compromised skin barriers or very sensitive skin, fast results are attractive! But not always an optimal treatment with positive long-term results. After a week of using this lotion, I am noticing a reduction in redness, soreness, and irritation on my skin. The texture of my skin is also beginning to soften and smoothen.-Overall-So far, I give this a 10/10. If results continue to progress in this positive direction, I’ll give it a 12/10 and start sliding it over to friends and family.I have a stubborn (painful even, at times) case of keratosis pilaris (KP) otherwise known as chicken skin, that has only worsened since my preadolescent years.I also have stress-triggered episodes of eczema, and excoriation disorder, which add up to a very compromised and scarred-up pair of bumpy, reddened, sore arms. It’s no understatement that this is the best lotion for my needs that I’ve purchased to date.My hopes are that with long term use, in combination with a gentle body wash containing a skin-friendly chemical exfoliant (low-percentage BHA, AHA, etc), that I will work my way toward smoother, healthier skin.TL;DR : 10/10. Moisturizing, no scent, light texture, no lingering oiliness or film, non-irritating, good ingredients, planet friendly. Do recommend.

Great all natural product!
Overall: Awesome, light product for sensitive skin. Not overly sticky or heavily-scented. Continuous use will leave skin very smooth. On the pricier side (but a little of the lotion goes a long way). I love this product and have switched to using it as my go-to lotion!Pros:-All natural product without harsh chemicals or unnecessary fillers-Really leaves skin feeling hydrated and nourished. I have used this for several weeks now (at least once a day) and my skin has genuinely felt so much healthier. I no longer wake up with dry hands, elbows, or feet-Light, airy, smooth texture that feels very soft when applying-Isn’t sticky and doesn’t leave residue. I can use my hands 1 minute or so after applying the lotion and they won’t feel oily or leave residue behindNeutral (depending on your preference):-Natural-smelling scent that isn’t too strong. Because this is shea butter, I was expecting a sweeter smell that is common in other lotions, but this scent is definitely more herb-y / earthy. You can distinctly smell the soapberry, and some may even find this scent veering towards the medicinal side (but only slightly). For me this is a huge pro because I don’t like heavily sweet / sugary smells, but your mileage may vary-As mentioned earlier, this is a very light lotion. It applies in a thin layer, so don’t expect a heavy cream or body butter type of textureCons:-On the expensive side when compared to drugstore lotions, though it is on par with natural / high-end lotions

Affordable, pure, effective, and versatile
My skin is in rough shape. I have very dry, eczema prone skin with patches that tend to break out with occasional acne, scar tissue formation, and rough calluses on elbows and feet. And I got so tired of using multiple skin care products that either barely helped or were way too expensive ($60 face creams, anyone?). So I researched different ingredients, tried out some raw shea butter and coconut oil to see how my skin would react to them, and put quite a few hours into searching for just the right product to meet my needs. This lotion isn't a miracle cream, but with its affordability, pure ingredients, effective moisturizing, and all-over versatility it's pretty close.I purchased the unscented version and it truly is without any scent, good or bad. It comes out thin like a lotion, which made me nervous at first, but goes on silky smooth like the thickest creams, yet without any sort of greasy residue. I've been using it all over (face and body) to the exclusion of any other moisturizing products, just to see what it could do - and I've gone from 6 containers on my countertop to just one, which is pretty amazing. No more dual face creams, body-only lotion, extra moisturizing treatment, cuticle cream, and callus cream! It's gentle enough for sensitive areas like around the eyes, yet effective enough for tough areas like elbows and feet. It hasn't completely reduced my calluses, but it's certainly stopped them from getting worse. My cuticles and skin tone have improved, my acne has almost disappeared, and red eczema-prone patches have evened out. I live in a cold, dry, wintry climate . . . so that's saying something! I love that it's made of the purest and most natural ingredients, and have enjoyed learning more about the benefits of soapberries. I will definitely be buying more of this in the future!
