Actually makes a difference – especially if you have asthma
I don’t usually write really long reviews, but I felt like I had to with this one. I’ve had the Philips 1000i Series (model AC1715/30) for about a week now, and if you have asthma or allergies, just get it. It’s been a complete game-changer for me. I have chronic asthma and pollen season always hits me hard. Since I started using this purifier, I feel like I can actually breathe. My lungs feel lighter, my sleep has improved, and I just feel more at ease in my own home. That alone is worth it. Set-up was super simple — literally plug it in and it’s ready to go. I have a small bedroom (around 12 m²), but I chose this bigger model since it covers up to 78 m². It clears my whole room in under 5 minutes. The air quality monitor is really accurate too. I noticed the PM2.5 numbers shoot up when I’m cooking — even if the door’s just slightly open — and then drop right back down once it’s been on turbo for a few minutes. I’ve taken screenshots to show how quickly it cleans the air (under 10 minutes). Design-wise, it’s really sleek and minimal. Most purifiers are clunky or ugly, but this one actually looks good. It blends in with my space and doesn’t stand out like a medical device. Sleep mode is properly silent — not just “quiet,” but actually silent. And if I want a bit of background hum, I use the second-highest mode or turbo. It gives off this gentle white noise that I actually like at night. The app is also great — very user-friendly and clear. One of my favourite features is that I can control the purifier from anywhere, not just when I’m on the same Wi-Fi. So when I’m at the office, I just open the app and turn it off during the day to save energy, then switch it back on 20–30 minutes before I come home. By the time I walk through the door, I know the air’s already been cleaned and I’m not breathing in lingering cooking smells or dust. It’s honestly such a nice feeling. Power consumption is low too, so even if you want to leave it on more often, it’s not going to make a big difference to your electricity bill. Bottom line: this purifier is absolutely worth it. It works, it looks good, and it’s made a huge difference to my asthma in just one week. Highly recommend — especially if you’re dealing with pollen, pets, or pollution.

Great! Life and mental sanity saving for me!
My neighbours have an addiction to fried onions and garlic. Also they love frying things with the windows closed.I have a great repulsion for anything smelly and cannot stand the smell of cheap, poor quality food. I decided to try this air purifier before moving away. Excellent! Now I can almost breathe. My room is usable. The noise is minimal, the auto function does the trick. The wifi controls are a bit of a gimmick but work. The night mode is effective and not disturbing.Could not be happier! I understand that the original filter is quite expensive but with a long life. Fully recommend!

Good but Maybe better to buy different model for infection
I purchased for infection protection. No idea if correct decision Good Looks snazzy , fairly compact. Has app and it apparently voice control Claims about tiny particles size and infection control Length of filter life apparently Low running cost apparently Has a medium speed/ sound option Bad Apparently most hepa filters can catch very small particles (but how well varies ) so not necessarily a USP CADR 300 quite small for size of unit The speed range has massive jump from medium to turbo boost, when the consumer would be served by a speed below the noise of max but more power than medium App is laggy I wish I’d purchased the aeg 7000 larger unit with a fan feature which is which best buy, currently on sale so same price and has more control over speed and larger CADR. But it is large rectangle and grey.

App connection terrible
Device itself is great - purifies air quickly . But the app …. Terrible ! Keeps loosing my device multiple times in a week ! Which kind of defeats the purpose as I paid more money for this model to be able to control it remotely and it doesn’t work . The app has many negative reviews I regret not looking into it first before I purchased this particular air purifier. Unless the app is sorted I would not recommend.

Looking forward to tackling the pollen.
I purchased this as I suffer quite badly from hay-fever and other allergies. Being early in the year and can't really say if it has helped much. Its a pretty big machine, similar to them big kettles you get at school events or pup meetings, so make sure ypu have a decent place to put it. I have found the touch screen very easy to use and brilliantly responsive along with the app. My house is generally very quiet so I do hear it whirling away in the day time but it's not loud enough to hear if I put the TV or radio on, obviously if the air quality goes bad (mainly from cooking) it does speed up somewhat for a few minutes to bring it back down. When it gets dark the light turns itself off and it goes to an even slower, almost silent mode so it would be ideal for a bedroom too. I quite like the design. There are some cheaper ones out there and more expensive ones too, but as a mid point one I am very impressed.

Deceptive advert and cadr rating, and filter too expensive
Some reviews are strange, or perhaps some may live in heavily polluted areas next to a main road or such. It's the over-the-top reviews that motivated me to write this. I've had the Philips 1000i air purifier for a year now, works really well for my wife who has allergies, although, the days she wakes up sneezing are the days we know to hoover thoroughly again, or for her to take her probiotics. Love the indicator for 2.5mm particulate matter (PM2.5) and the allergen index, and the app was helpful to track and see whether anything causes the measurements to rise through the day, but the novelty wears off after a couple of weeks. I've since deleted the (Philips Air+) app and disconnected the purifier from internet due to personal privacy as it constantly requires access to location and local network, so Philips (if they so choose) can find out how many people in the home, potentially the size of household, what types of devices, and well, many other things. Such is the problem with "smart" tech, it mostly benefits the corporate entity. Regardless, I wish I had purchased a standalone air quality monitor first, as the pm2.5 count in my home is a constant 7 (very low), unless we're doing a spring clean or sorting through clothes in a cupboard, which makes it shoot up to around 25 (still relatively low/medium). I don't use it to clean the cooking smell, as it's a natural smell and isn't harmful. However, in a large room I noticed any obstacle, such as a table or sofa is enough to stop it from working across the entire room (such as an open-plan room). I found this out when I used it in a large room (20m²) where there was cooking smell, and although it purified the air in its immediate vicinity, walking to the other side of the room after 30 minutes, and to my surprise the smell is still there (even though the pm2.5 counter stated 1)! And that's when I realised I had been deceived by the 300m³/h CADR rating and it's ability to supposedly purify 78m². Other times I realised even when leaving the doors open, it doesn't purify the air everywhere, only in a small corner in 1 room where the purifier sits (even when it's far from the wall or other elements). The same problem when placing the purifier in the bedroom and cleaning the en-suite bathroom with bleach, sadly it doesn't purify the air, only in it's immediate vicinity, even when placed near the entrance of the bathroom at maximum speed, and still unfortunately, makes little difference. Keeping the window/door open when cleaning with bleach or other harmful chemicals which release formaldehyde, is far more beneficial than this "purifier". This was a wake up to say the least, along with the shock of finding out that the replacement filter costs ~£50, while the filter for the smaller unit (Philip 800 series purifier) costs less than half of that and one can find many non-official filters for the 800 series which are even cheaper, but not the 1000i series. In case it also benefits others, I've also measured the EMF radiation and found that it emits more than twice the amount compared to electric "smart" meters! So those with emf sensitivity should be wary. Reflecting on this and the fact I only bought the bigger unit thinking it would purify the air in a large room was a huge mistake, and I regret not buying an air quality monitor first, and then the smaller 800 series purifier.
