The BEST YOUNG CHILDRE
Dick Bruna’ s books are very much loved in The Netherlands , from where the artist is. I just found them at Amazon. I gave this book to a one year old girl. Young children with their parents will like them very very much.

Miffy books
My child liked them when she was a toddler and wanted them for her child. Simple picture appeal to 8+month old baby though text is long. Used and came with sticky price tag and glue on cover but it cleaned up like new

Excellent baby/preschool book
This is one of my personal favourites in the Miffy series, where Miffy (a little girl bunny) goes to the zoo with her father. They take the train and go to see the parrots, a zebra, a kangaroo, an elephant, a monkey, two giraffes, and a turtle. It's great fun for kids with the bright-coloured simple pictures. My one-year old daughter loves to point at the pictures and "say" the names of the animals. The text has four lines of rhyme on each page that describe what is seen on the page. After reading it only a few times, my daughter can now spot any monkey a mile away.

I remember my grandpa reading this to me when I was a very little girl.

Miffy at the Zoo
I have the original version of Miffy at the Zoo, published in 1965, and printed in Holland. I have recently bought the updated version, owing to wear and tear on the first copy. I am quite disappointed that the text has been changed, as my 15 month old grand-daughter was becoming so familiar with the original. I can't quite understand why parrots can't say "Pretty Polly" now and have to say "Pretty bird" instead! And why does Miffy have to have a 'father' and not a Daddy? The repeated use of the word 'funny' on the zebra page implies a certain lack of imagination on the part of the translator. Am I just being over-fussy to want to read the original text I wonder? I don't dislike the rhyming text, but the original was simpler and very direct for young children.

miffy at the zoo
The book is ok. I was disappointed it didn't have a lion because on the tv show you see the lion several times.

A Hit!
Although I have 5 children of my own, I never ventured into the world of Miffy with them. I bought this for my 15 month old grandaughter, along with a cuddly toy and she loves it. My son has to read every page and she sits perfectly still, pointing out the animals and making the relevant noises. She smiles and responds when she gets a noise and animal to match. I think her Daddy would like me to buy another one now as he has read it hundreds and hundreds of times!!

Lovely story about Miffy's daddy taking Miffy to the zoo for the day
Lovely story, with Miffy's daddy (so a great gift for dads to read with their LOs) taking Miffy to the zoo for the day. Lovely colourful pictures, as always, and a short but simple rhyming story.

Very well received by my two year old grandson. Really loves the idea of the train and seeing all the animals at the zoo.
