Is an 8 inch large enough for an average womans ankle

No, not really. I have dinky/bony ankles, thinner than average, and I like something larger than 8". (For reference I'm a size 5 ring finger, 6.5 bracelet). Especially considering this particular herringbone piece doesn't have any give. You cannot move comfortably when an anklet is even just a bit too tight.

It says "925 sterling silver. finished with a layer of pure silver" which is it, silver or silver plated?
