I finally received all of the product that I order--I received a bag that spilled in the box, my truck and ALL over the return facility--which threw my project off a day with the open bag; but, I am able to proceed.

I have tried a multitude of substrates for my planted aquariums. Sand/gravel don't offer enough nutrients for plants. Fluval's Stratum disintegrates easily and clouds the water. Seachem's Flourite makes a smeary, cloudy mess unless rinsed many times. Ultum Nature System's Controsoil, however, needs NO RINSING and does not cloud the water. I have it in 7 aquariums now, and despite the high price, will continue to purchase it for subsequent aquariums. My plants are thriving in Controsoil, and it looks great too. Highly recommend for planted aquariums.

The black Controsoil was not as black as I wanted it to be, however, my plants, snails, shrimp and fish are LOVING this stuff!! I have actually been to Aso Mountain in Japan where the ash for this substrate came from, so I might be a little biased. Regardless, this substrate is amazing. The seller was outstanding, answered ALL of my questions quickly and completely. I highly recommend this seller and of course CONTROSOIL. Just buy it!!!
