Review: Great story, Very bad binding - The binding is so poor the pages and the cover fall out. Review: I do not recommend it. Scary pictures and a lot of "oooohh, pffff, boom, gggggrrr" on each page, and filled with useless american expressions, it will bring no value add to your child's reading comprehension, nothing to learn from it.

Terrible binding. Pages fell out on day one itself. Story was good though.

I bought this book for my daughter for Christmas. Although the book is great and she loves the series, unfortunately upon our first read this evening, the pages began detaching from the spine and falling out. Needless to say, I had a disappointed 8 yo tonight.

We're now five books into this series and I still thoroughly look forward to their releases. There is just something wonderfully endearing about Amelia and her adventures. Although the stories are full of things that could be creepy and utterly disgusting, the stories are always wholesome and completely appropriate for middle-grade readers, containing wonderfully positive messages and upbeat plots. The story this time explores Florence's family, set in a kind of retirement home for ancient Yetis (including some rare breeds) as Amelia and the others are invited to join in the birthday celebrations of Florence's Grand-Yeti. While a lot of the early chapters are given over to detailing the fun traditions of the Yetis, a new mystery starts to be revealed as precious items begin to vanish. The plot eventually builds to an exciting adventure as Amelia and her friends set out to save the day, which certainly was faster-paced than the last couple of instalments. Yet, at the same time, the novel still contains that nice message about the importance of friendship. It teaches kids, in a very heartwarming way, that they shouldn't be worried about making new friends as this does not mean that they can’t also keep their old ones. The volume was, as always, also filled with wonderfully cute illustrations on every page. These really captured the characters' personalities well and are sure to delight any young reader. With its brightly coloured page edges and gilt points on the cover and spine, this book also really does look great on the shelf and is well worth owning as a physical copy. Yet the thing I love most about Amelia Fang is still, as always, the characters. Amelia and her friends are still all wonderfully colourful and have remarkably different personalities. From clean and proper Tangine, to shy and introverted Grimaldi, the group are wonderfully different and really show that people can be best friends even if they don't all share the same interests. All in all, I am still loving this series and would recommend it to all young readers. I can't wait until the next instalment is released! A definite 5 star read.
