185 degree thermostat backed by Gates long history of making quality OEM replacement parts. The thermostat has to be 185 degrees or higher for smog parts to correctly burn off CO or HCO. If you install a Hypertech PP III than you can install a 160 degree thermostat. Remember to change your thermostat every 5 to 8 years or 50,000 miles to ensure proper working order.

Thermostat housing
The part arrived as said. The part was a easy install on my 2006 gmc 4.8 motor. It’s to early to say if it will hold up , but it is doing fine at this point and the temperature holds according!! Came with bolts and seals!! I chose to clean and use old bolts only do to my preference!! I would buy again !!

Pairs well with the gates water pump. Just screw it in and you’re good to go. Comes with two different gaskets. Great value too.
