what's the difference between the black dried limes and other dried limes?

I’ve never had any other kind of dried lime. These add a complex citrus note to soup ( my recipe called for it). It is my understanding these are dried with salt, so that too may make a flavor difference.

Is there any bitter taste

I used it once with Middle East cooking and it was not bitter. After cooking, you take it out and discard. At least that’s what I did.
