Most quilt/art books can be beautiful and share whatever the artist author believes is their method. They often are more biographical than instructional and allow you to appreciate and maybe explore on your own to create, but the techniques or style is never actually encouraged or “taught” to replicate and grow the readers own skills.Stitched Photo Mosaic quilting by Timna Tarr is a book that exceeds the bar. A book that reads like listening to a good friend with conversation and some humor. Serious while making it fun. It is a unique combination of talented artist and a master teacher/mentor.There are well written examples and steps with her explaining not only her unique “how”, but her”why” for choosing the ways she does things. Added to that is a strong sense of joy in creating and sincere hope that yes…you can do it too. Reading I get the feeling of her actually being delighted to have others also enjoy creating using her techniques. She wants others to be successful and love what they make.Amazing amount of details, photos and text for methods…and beautiful photos of examples.This is actually a book I am not just skimming and looking at, but reading every word and will be using to learn and create. Well worth the price -what a deal!

This quilting project is something I have been wanting to try. I have read the book and it has excellent ideas on mosaic quilts. The animals and people from photos compared to the quilts are excellent. These will take some time and lots of thought. I will post once I have completed my first one.

I can’t wait to try this method of creating a picture quilt. I have taken a class from Timna Tarr and she is a great teacher. Her book is well written no easy to follow. Very happy with this and would recommend.

Good information but not for me.

Timna explains her method with excellent examples giving the reader a chance to create a mosaic picture from fabric.Her personality comes through in the book - I was lucky to attend a class with her teaching this method. I can hear her talking when I read this book.

This book is OUTSTANDING! Extremely readable, clear and just detailed enough, with photos that are so helpful. Quilters of all levels will love it: new-to-quilting (basics on color and technique); and experienced quilters (for inspiration on new quilting adventures.) This book is a treasure I will refer to often!

This book is fantastic. Well written, easy to read and lots of photos of the process. The process is complex but with the instructions I feel able to tackle a project on my own. This book will give you the wings to start your own masterpiece!!!
