It would be perfect for your 50kg Shepherd. My Labrador was 45kg and we used it a lot. Hope this helps.

Q: Hi, can this be used for a shih tzu?

I can't see why it couldn't be used for a shih Tzu, you would just need a smaller size, and you need to see how long the handle is...as we have a collie, so you can still stand up straight with it, not sure whether you could with your dog.

This harness is ideal to give some support to a dog that has mobility issues. We use it for our elderly Labrador as her back legs give way sometimes we just slip it under her and lift. It is ideal for male and female dogs. The inner lining is lovely and soft.

Q: This will cover my boys private bits, it won't hurt him will it? I assume you remove to let him urinate?

The belt is padded with sheepskin which goes next to dog. As for placement under the dog, it shouldn't interfere or press on his "boy bits". As for passing urine I assume your dog could stand for as long as it takes to wee, either that slip the belt up the body to accommodate. Hope this helps
