This chess set looks and feels really slick and professional. It has a magnetic underlay, but it’s not so strong that the pieces feel stuck - they glide effortlessly over the board. The pieces themselves are stored safely and orderly inside the board when it folds and closes. The pieces feel very well made, and are the perfect size for a proper game of chess. (None of that tiny fiddly travel size pieces) I love the brown / white finish too!

An absolutely excellent chess board and pieces. It is considerably larger and more impressive than I expected it to be. This is a board that is not stained different colours, but made using marquetry. The chess pieces are weighted and look good. I now intend to embark on humiliating my long suffering wife by teaching her to play chess :-) (and hopefully beating her at it for a while). The pieces are snugly stored within the case in felt apertures. However, it looks so nice that we will probably keep it on display. Hopefully we won't have any visitors who are competent at chess in the near future.

Wasn’t very impressed with the product for a £50 item. The box packaging looked cheap and the pieces looked worn and a bit old looking and it took absolutely ages to arrive in the post (beyond Christmas). The webbing where the board opened was also all crumpled and defective on one side. I also didn’t realise that the product was coming from Poland and I’d paid £6 already for postage then I had to pay another £12 to send it back which I sincerely hope that they will refund me back. Not particularly happy.

Got it today and its not bad at all, nicely made pieces, even the Knights. Its big and heavy, not really a 'travel' set, but perfect if you want a big wooden set with sturdy pieces in the traditional Staunton design, the board is nicely done and pieces fit inside and are well protected by the cutout inlay. Only slight fault was when board was opened the seam was about a mm up on one side, but otherwise the joining fitted together very well and fully flat. The price I paid was 102 Euros, if was about 80 or so then it would be a good buy.

The set, whilst being fairly nice itself - coming with rather pleasing, slightly weighted pieces, and a large, clear board, suffers horribly from poor quality control. Multiple of the figures had large pieces of glue stuck to them, which I had to scrape off with a knife. The board itself also had very noticeable fading and wear on the notation. Had this board been half the price these issues could be forgiven. At this price point however, such issues are unacceptable.

This chess board has exceeded my expectation. High quality board with high quality pieces. If you are a chess lover, this board is fantastic for the price. Can hardly see the line in the middle either for it being a folded board. The only tiny thing if I was being extremely picky is that there are no spare Queen pieces but that's about it. Still a solid 5 stars from me.

After owning few wooden chess set of more or less price from this purchased, I was really quite disappointed, thus of the 3 star review. Quality - RAW vs Finishing Upon closer look of the chess pieces and the board, the RAW material used would really be of good quality and craftsmanship. However, the finishing of the board and the chess pieces was a big let down. Some pieces are of blob of glue or lacquer finished around and under, the felt under the chess pieces was somewhat inconsistent in sizes (small, overhangs, thin, thick). The holes under ( where the weights are located ) are of different sizes and some pieces are of different weights. Unfortunately, the chess board that I’ve got was not straight (the other half was 1mm higher than the other half of the board - area of H5-D5 and H4-D4). It’s been nearly 3 nights where the board and pieces where opened and let sit for open air and yet the strong lacquer finish is still strong which makes the chess unplayable for a while. The inner plastic mould that serves as the holder of the pieces were of poor quality. However, if anyone could look beyond the aesthetics, feel, and craftsmanship of the chess set due to its cost, it is good for the purpose. My humble opinion, after owning some wooden chess of nearly the same price (more or less), this goes at the end of my list.

A lovely quality board, I was hoping for competition-weighted pieces but maybe that was a bit too wishful for the price. The pawns are not very heavy but the other pieces have more weight to them. Very happy with our purchase and it arrived the next day in London.

Ein sehr schönes Schachset! Das Brett ist sehr gut verarbeitet, im Prinzip entspricht (fast) alles den Fotos. Die Verschlüsse sind bei dem gelieferten Modell zwar etwas anders, aber ebenfalls sehr ansehnlich, sauber angesetzt und schliessen mit satter Feder sehr exakt - einwandfrei. Die Springer-Figuren sind filigraner gearbeitet als auf den Fotos. Sämtliche Figuren sind sehr präzise, sauber und einheitlich gearbeitet. Es gibt minimale Mängel, dem Holz geschuldet. Die Figuren liegen alle gut in der Hand, Filz an allen Figuren ebenfalls sauber gesetzt. Insgesamt sehr gutes Verhältniss der Figuren zur Brettgröße. Die Figuren passen nahezu perfekt in die Einlage. Die Karton-Verpackung schützt das gute Stück optimal für die Zukunft. Insgesamt ein rundum empfehlenswertes und wie beschrieben elegantes Schachset! Zwar schade, dass es als I-Tüpfelchen nicht magnetisch ist - aber das entspricht der Beschreibung und ist verzichtbar. Meinerseits eine absolute Empfehlung!

Parfait

Llevaba tiempo buscando un set de ajedrez portátil y este ha cubierto todas mis necesidades. De madera, tanto tablero como piezas. Éstas últimas están bien hechas, no son perfectas, son de madera muy ligera, pero mejores que las de otros sets de precio/tamaño similar. La base de las piezas están cubiertas por fieltro negro, proporcionándole un buen tacto sobre el tablero. Los imanes de las piezas no son muy fuertes, inclinando el tablero como en la foto del producto las piezas más altas (y pesadas) se deslizan, pero cumplen su cometido, proporcionando a las piezas una sensación de peso agradable y efectiva si jugamos viajando o en el exterior con viento por ejemplo. Recomendable.
