Lovely book, but doesn't live up to the previous two in series
Having purchased the other books from this collection (Snow White, Pinocchio) I was very eager to get this one for my growing Disney collection. The only downside right off the bat is that this new book is no where near as extensive as the former releases. "The Fairest One of All" and "Pinocchio" tell an in depth history of the studio at the time as well as a highly detailed breakdown of the production processes, in addition to the photographs not just of artwork, but of the people in the studio. In contrast this Jungle Book release is almost entirely a visual feast, focusing its attention on the production artwork, cels and background paintings. Though some aspects of the production are addressed, it's so formulaic that much of the information can be attained from elsewhere. This isn't to say that the writing is uninteresting, but it surprises me that more work wasn't put into exploring an important time for the studio, coming off the heels of mixed-received work, a renewed focus on Disneyland and Disney World, and Disney himself passing away. What's more, the book costs the same as what the former two did, despite containing a tiny fraction of text and a far smaller number of images. But despite not living up to other efforts, it's worth reiterating that the artwork featured really is lovely and, in all honesty, it's rare to get Jungle Book artwork in a larger format. Worth a buy but not at full price.

STUNNING VISUALS MAKE A VALUABLE KEEPSAKE
Never have I seen a book on animation that put you at the drawing table of some of the greatest animators who ever lived. Frank Thomas, Ollie Johnston, Woolie Reitherman, and more are alive in the stunning artwork and actual cel reproductions from The Jungle Book. There are many Disney books on animation, and all are a wonderful read. But this one really stands apart for the beautiful, three-dimensional, shiny cel reproductions. Thank you, Andreas Deja for this magnificent tribute to a Disney film that should be right up there when we talk of the best of Disney animated classics. My only complaint, and that has to do with the shipping, is that the books were not shrink-wrapped at all by Amazon. Don't know if that's the fault of Amazon or the publisher, but I ordered two books, and they came in the same box, no shrink-wrap, nothing to keep them from banging around in the box and into each other. A deluxe book like this deserves to be packaged a lot better than this.

Un must have !

Esperaba más
Libro que, en general, está bien, pero llega un punto que abusa de incluir fotogramas de la película. Pensaba que traería más arte conceptual, bocetos, etc. Para ver fotogramas, veo la película directamente!
