Well worth it on my Breville.
We have been buying this brand for our Breville espresso machine for years. It does do a good job in descaling the machine. I notice it in how well the steamer knob works after using it. My machine is too expensive to experiment with cheaper brands.

Perfect
Worked great & worked nicely for my breville barista pro! This is what I used to use working in a coffee shop so I trust the cleanliness it provides.

Works great for hard water problems.
Had serious problems with my Nijia coffee maker due to hard water, and vinegar was not solving it. This did.

Not necessarily better than vinegar
Update: I've compared this to a vinegar a few times now. I actually think vinegar removes more than this. When I run vinegar through my machine, more scale chunks come out than with this stuff. Also, a big issue I've been noticing is that this stuff seems to rip some residue off the plastic parts on my coffee machine. When I run the machine with this - it come out black, which the only black in my machine are the black plastic parts. So I imagine that is what is causing the black water. This has never happened to me with vinegar. I will likely not keep using this once I finish the bottle and switch back to vinegar. I have used vinegar to clean my coffee machine for years. I know some people don’t like it, but I’ve never had any problem. After flushing with water, there is no vinegar smell left over and my machine is clean. I bought this out of curiosity to see how it compared. To test it, I first cleaned my machine with vinegar, and then I ran this through the machine to see if it would remove anything more than the vinegar. It didn’t really. So then I used this later alone to see how much it removed, and it did clean it very well, but I found it to be similar to the vinegar for performance. I do typically run vinegar through my machine 2 to 3 times to get everything out, so the jury is still out on whether this is quicker or not. I did not find in my test that it was. So overall, I think it’s a perfectly fine cleaner, and that it works quite well, I’m just not convinced it’s anything better than vinegar.

Good budget alternative to Breville
Worked fine in my Breville espresso machine- powder dissolved quickly in warm water. Note- for household use mix 30 grams/liter (1 ounce), not the 50g/liter specified on the container- the higher concentration is for commercial machines/boilers. The Amazon product info mentions this too- 1 ounce per quart. This is very close to the size of the Breville descaler packets (25g).

Good Stuff
Through an unfortunate series of events I had to flee my living situation and move in with my parents who are octogenarians, my dad pushing 90. They have this coffee machine in their home and they don't see too well apparently because this machine was completely covered in grease and filled with limescale. My instinct was to throw the thing right in the trash and replace it but knowing my parents, I had to make a great show of trying to shine it up and save the machine. My dad was still using the single serve portion of the coffee maker and it is a wonder he's still living. I poured a full carafe of vinegar water in this machine to brew and only half of the contents came through, the rest a mystery where it went. A few more times alternating between vinegar mix and some food grade disinfectant tablets I happened to have -- even swirling a silicone brush in the water chamber to loosen the scale from the inside -- and the machine eventually ran much clearer but somewhat sluggishly with sediment catching in the filter. I still didn't trust drinking anything that came out of this machine. A search on Amazon and I found this product from Urnex. Urnex is a brand name I recognize from the products used to maintain the office coffee machines. I ordered this and poured it in to the machine at a maximum strength mixture. After 20 minutes I turned the machine on and watched the murky water come out. Not only did it look bad but it smelled bad too and whatever it was loosening up, it stopped up the filter and the water just pooled in there. Ich! I dumped it out and ran some of the solution through again, then began clean water rinses 5 or 6 times. It runs like a new machine now. The coffee tastes good and my innards are still in tact. Plus I made my parents proud which was what this whole thing was all about. Fabulous.

Great product. This citric acid works great for descaling coffee makers. Too bad the price has doubled in 8 years.

The item was well-packed, but the content inside was a little wet, and the cover that I removed was also damp. I don't understand how the moisture got inside, considering that it was securely sealed. Someone is responsible for this, whether it's the manufacturer, storage facility, or during delivery. As for the product, I've already used it and it is working quite well. I'm not sure if the humidity damaged it at some point, but I used a bit more dosage than usual.

This was way too expensive.(shiped from U.S.A.) But is a top quality product. Tried other descalers and been disapointed. This one does the job that is suposed to do.
