JorVetPet Piller - DZ

We recently had to start giving our cat medication twice a day, and he will need it for the rest of his life. With this cat there was no way anyone was going to place a pill in his mouth by hand. So we first tried grinding the pills up and mixing them in chicken broth, then using a syringe to place the solution in his mouth. But he hated the taste and would drool and just generally be miserable.Someone recommended crushing the pills and putting them into a small (#4) capsule, putting a little butter to help the pills go down, then using a piller like this one. We were both shocked at how much easier it is! Our cat still struggles a bit (he is a cat, after all), and sometimes manages to spit the capsule back out. But generally the capsules are going down easier and the whole process seems much less stressful for him. This piller holds the small capsules firmly and it is easy to shoot them deep into his mouth. I will admit that we still use two people to do it... maybe it could be done with one, but it would be a lot tougher.

I bought the 12 pack. I need to give my cat 1/4 of a Zantac twice a day (very small piece). I have tried several times to get this to work without even trying to give it to my cat. The rubber part has already broken on 4 different pieces. I think if I were giving my cat a whole pill, it might work, but the 1/4 tablet shape is just too much to push through the rubber without splitting the rubber on the side. If they used better rubber at the tip, I think this would work nicely, but it's a piece of junk.

In terms of plunger design, it works well. However, small pills don't work well in this pillar. We tried to use an oval Prednisolone pill and it kept falling out. I finally had to put tape on the rubber tip to tighten it. You shouldn't have to do that. The description is deceptive and claims to work with small pills. Trust me, it does not. The tip design has slits in it for expansion. So why not make it a bit tighter for the small pills and it will expand for larger pills.

I just got this today. I was so excited to use it. The other pill gun very quickly was bend out of shape at the tip. I was concerned with the rubber tip of this one coming off into my cat's mouth based on reviews of other pill guns with rubber tips. This one's tip is designed in such a way that it will not. The plunger does not fall out of the piller and does not push past the tip so it won't get distorted. The tip is small enough that it will hold the very small pill I give my cat and it holds the slightly bigger one nicely. Time will tell how long before I have to use the next one in the bag but already I see the difference from the pill gun I bought before and I am happy.

Looks similar to the light green tipped piller, but this one is stiff, poorly constructed, not worth the hassle of trying it. Spend the extra few bucks on the green tipped ones, the frustration of watching these tear at the tip and not have plungers long enough to reach the tip is worth spending the additional cost to avoid these.

these exact pillers are the best i have ever used! i have bought other brands and accidentally bought some knock offs once and i am so happy that i found a dozen of the ones i have been using for many years. they outlast other brands i have bought in the past.i rescue cats so i have to bleach my pillers after each use and they still hold up!!! if the cats would stop using them as toys and loosing them a dozen might last me several years, the o ly reason i keep buying more is that the cats take them; however i have managed to hang onto a few of my old ones that have never failed me!THANK YOU!!!!
