They erase and have held up decently well so far. However, if you're a teacher I would suggest getting black instead of colors. My students have drawn all over these. I guess I should have expected that.

Wonderful colors, quality, and size. My students love them but i love them more because my students can stick it to the side of their metal desks. Super affordable and durable, too. My student poke the heck out of them and have not seen a dent.

Bought these for my son’s kindergarten class they worked great and had plenty of extras just in case they got destroyed.

Perfect for little hands!!!

Our goal was to hold papers on a magnetic chalk board. The round ones claim to be able to do that. The square ones were the shape we needed but they do not hold as well. (We did not buy round so I cannot actually compare.) A square one with a sheet of typing paper on the side of our fridge just slid slowly down. With a half sheet it would stay in place. We eventually decided to use rare earth magnetic push pins to hold up pictures and such.
