Prevue Hendryx 1097 Nature's Hideaway Grass Hut Toy, Medium, 11 x 9 x 6

First, I have to say that the holes for entrance/exit of the house were about half the size pictured. No problem. I simply cut one hole bigger. Scissors didn't work. I had to use small wire cutters. I cut it from the bottom all the way around the top and other side. I left the other as is because he likes windows.He absolutely loves this, and he's a rather large cavy. When he sleeps, he sleeps in the hut. Sometimes he curls up in it; other times his nose or up to his ears stick out the door, which I modified.I think that it may be rather small for rabbits, but for guinea pigs (after modifying) and hamsters, it's perfect. If you have any questions about modification, i.e., cutting the holes larger, please don't be afraid to ask.I'm very happy with the purchase, although I had to modify it just a bit. I would definitely purchase it again. I *will* purchase it again, because it's designed for my little beastie to eat.

I absolutely love this product simply because my two male guinea pigs do! They love hiding in it, nibbling on it, and running thru it. I had doubts that they wouldn't fit thru it because they're a bit on the chubby side, but amazingly enough, they fit just fine. The size is great as well; it's roomy enough to hide in it, but not too huge or anything. It's also very sturdy and I don't think that my piggies will eat through all of it anytime soon. There are no gimmicks or any form of false advertising. I would definitely recommend this for anybody who is considering getting this item for their piggies :)

I read reviews and product info that said it's safe for them to chew on and others had their pets chew on it some. Within a week, our 2 guinea pig girlies had chewed to the point it was basically just a roof. They get fresh hay, food, water, treats, and veggies daily so they were chewing because they are starved. Did function well but our biggest piggie got stuck because she was too fat to fit through the hole. Our tiny piggie fit perfectly. So if you have large piggies don't buy.

My guinea pigs have loved this so far! It is the perfect size for the two of them to cuddle up under (though they are still young and may not fit for much longer). The openings were a bit small, but they took care of that and just chewed them larger. Overall I'm happy that it's held up for the last month, but have little hope of it lasting all that much longer with them both chewing and perching on top.

Nice little hut for my guinea pigs! It's not large by any means, it's quite a tight fit but my adult male and 2 month baby pig can fit if they squeeze in together. I like that it has 2 openings (be sure with multiple pigs you always get houses with more than 1 exit!) They can flip it over when bulldozing things about the cage, but they even like to sit inside of it when it's upside down. Overall a nice hut for them. Lightweight and chewable, mine have nibbled at it over the course of 1 month but very minimal damage. Shown in the pics are my adult sized black male, and 2 month old baby male (who looks larger due to hair).

UPDATE:I ended getting a young skinny guinea pig shortly after I first reviewed this Hideout (maybe a month or so later?). I gave him this hut and he loves it! He likes to move it around his cage (he likes to rearrange his furniture) and uses both entrances. Sometimes he also lifts up the bottom and exits it that way. It is now August of the same year and he has chewed the grass to where both the holes almost connect. As long as I clean his cage regularly, I don't have too much a problem with it getting urine soaked. It has held up better than I expected and hasn't molded so far. I'm actually fairly satisfied with how long it has held up and since my skinny guinea pig still fits in it (he did make the other hole a little bigger by chewing it) I may consider purchasing another one since it is easy for him to move it around his cage. He weighs under 2 lbs.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------As far as guinea pigs go, it seems as though it may be better suited for younger ones. The holes are kind of small for my two adult guinea pigs. One of them has gone in and out of it a few times after chewing on one of the holes to make it bigger. He had a little bit of a hard time getting back out. I do like that it does not have a floor as this keeps the guinea pigs from getting it as dirty. Overall it seems very well made (fairly sturdy). Like I said, my main complaint would be that it is not as suitable for bigger guinea pigs. Mine are probably both under 3 pounds.

Rats love. Hold up well. Have lasted over a month with my very chew happy boys. Doesn’t hold smell. Good value.

My rats like it so I like it! There's not too much to say here. The item I received looked just like the one in the picture. It's precisely as described. Two adult male rats fit inside of it comfortably and a couple more like to sit on top. Ever since I added this to their cage, it seems to be a favorite. Someone's always snuggled inside. It probably won't last as long as plastic hideaways. It's not as big and it's not quite as cheap. Regardless, I'll be getting another when this one is worn just on the basis of how much the rats like it. And it's cute to boot. The color goes well with all sorts of cage themes.
