You get what you pay for... these are cheap, and low quality. I bought these for specific sizes of taps and dies for chasing dirty threads. Cheaper than buying individual sizes, and I did not need something ultra-strong. Good thing I didn't try to actually cut threads... while chasing threads on some grade 5 bolts of various sizes, all the dies except one ended up chipping. I was still able to finish the job, since I was just cleaning threadlocker off the bolts. The taps work ok, again for light thread chasing. There is no T-handle for the taps though, which is a disappointment. The included straight handle is functional, but requires a lot of clearance, so I couldn't use it. I would not buy these again if I had known how bad they are.

I'm fixing things up and enjoying the hobby of bringing old tools to life. Most of the tools I have are from lifetimes ago and all US Standard sized. However, when you blend the old with new fangled safety switches or the like, everything is suddenly global and as such, metric. Being able to tap a hole to the metric size you need makes things come together, and so does running a buggered standard bolt through the die bring new life to mating the old and new. For today's provision and lighter steel, this kit gets me through.

Desperately needed a tap and die set for adding thread to a cake stand central support. Fantastic result. Now can use tools for ongoing thread issues with DIY projects.

After reading reviews and selecting what I thought might be useful for home and hobby use, my first attempt using a M6 die illustrated how cheaply manufactured this entire set is, the die would not stay seated in the holder and while testing the M 6 (1) die it badly distorted the thread on a perfectly threaded bolt. I had hoped the selection of an alloy steel material would be more useful than carbon steel. I fail to understand the positive reviews associated with this product, this tap and die set is an absolute piece of garbage. The set is immediately going back to Amazon, for a full refund. My next purchase will be HHS from a quality manufacturer.
