5 stars because....it's close to the original but not. The weight and balance is good. Performance, quality, and originality is as I expected. The fifth star is no comparison.... portability vs the old worm drive and for obvious reasons but that is why I have and use both of them! It's an excellent choice for portable and we'll worth it.

Lighter weight than I expected and very easy to guide with one hand. It used two batteries at one time and the batteries charge very quickly! Charge the batteries during your lunch break and they'll be recharged after lunch! Love this saw.

Been in construction my entire life, this saw is amazing, would buy over and over again for the price .

Bought this saw in June 2023, it’s now November 2025. I barely used it because it’s heavy and I’m just a DIY user, yet both batteries are completely dead after sitting unused for a couple of months. Unsurprisingly, Skil hides behind their conveniently short 2-year warranty and refuses to take any responsibility. For comparison, I have several DeWalt cordless tools with batteries that are five to six years old and still hold a charge like new. Skil’s batteries are absolute junk, and their customer support is even worse. Save yourself the frustration, stay far away from this brand.

This battery-powered saw replaced a corded one of the same brand that I used for 25 years, but whose cord was worn out, and damaged. I have been very pleased with the SKIL quality, and decided to buy the battery-operated model. I also liked that, unlike most other battery-powered tools, this one takes two batteries, instead of one. I thought it would extend the length of time between recharges. But that was not so. My workers soon complained that the batteries wear out very quickly, leaving them powerless, even in the midst of small jobs. We use battery-powered tools a lot, and have 18 high-capacity batteries for DeWalt, Milwaukee, and Makita tools. The SKIL batteries are no match for these other brands. Even two SKIL batteries last less than one of the others. It's unfortunate because the two-battery tool is an interesting idea. But until SKIL fixes this, we'll set this saw aside, and replace instead the cord on the old SKIL to keep us going.

Definitely powers through. Battery life will definitely last a day on the job. I stopped using my corded version because this one is easier to use and if I'm on a job with no electricity it powers through.

Using this for framing but found it to be very heavy especially because it only works with the 2 batteries installed
