Loved Seth and Iris and their journey
A standalone read with a HEA. Everybody has an opinion, it always amazes me when I read some reviews and have to wonder just what the reader is looking for. Some found the story boring...not me, I could hardly put it down. I loved Seth and his story. I've seen father's like his, they can't seem to help themselves being jerks but they don't see themselves that way at all. But Seth certainly had to grow up in a hurry and he had to do it himself. Over and over he shows what a truly good human being he is. He certainly has flaws, he is human, but he is certainly above and beyond most guys. I thought he was a great hero and I was rooting for him all the way.Iris was his best friend from about 4 years old. Their mother's were best friends. Iris was raised without a dad and rather poor but her mother did the best she could and Iris had her best friend next door. Of course, she falls for Seth over and above their friendship. He is a bit dense, as are most males, in the love connection department and instead of going after his best friend, he hits on the girls that will put out in high school. There is a very devastating event that ends their friendship. Typical male, he doesn't have a clue what he has done and remains ignorant of all the facts until about 17 years later. This story is set in a small town, everyone knows everyone else and their business or lack thereof. Seth returns home to be the head of the PoliceDepartment. He is no longer a boy but his ex-best friend still is angry and wants nothing to do with him. He is going to have to work to get her back. In the process, he discovers that he not only wants his best friend but also wants to be more. There are a lot of funny parts as he tries to discourage other guys from going after her and tries to win her back. There are some very serious issues that are addressed as well. When the star quarterback decides to rough up his current "love", the law as well as the school had to get involved. Date abuse is a very big issue in the schools today. Abusers learn from abusers. Lots of dramas going on in this small town. It was a very good, absorbing read. Par for Ms. Carr, I loved it and hated to see it end. I definitely recommend it.I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this writer. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 7/10/17

Definitely a page turner
The Homecoming is book 6 of the Thunder Bay Series by Robyn Carr. It is an excellent book just like her other books. The characters are realistic and well developed and the plot is exciting and clear. The book is easy to read and easy to keep up with the characters and the different elements of the plot.Seth Sileski and Iris McKinley had been best friends since they were six years old. They lived next door to each other and Iris felt she was just one of the boys of Seth’s family. That is for a while, until she began to see Seth in a different light. Seth, however, continued to see her as his best friend. Their friendship broke under the stress over prom. Seth was never sure what happened and Iris never told him. What could have happened to create this breakup of a longtime friendship?Seth had left town for college and then the NFL with the Seahawks. The money went to his head a little and he bought himself a silver Ferrari. One evening he was racing along the mountain roads, luckily slowing somewhat when he came to a crossroads. He had the right of way but was speeding when he hit the truck that missed the stop sign. Seth hurt his leg and one ended up being shorter than the other. The other man was paralyzed and remained a quadriplegic. Though it technically it wasn’t his fault, Setj went to Oscar’s house to apologize. They became very good friends. How was this possible?Seth returns to Thunder Point as Deputy to repair the damage his accident had created between him and his father and to reacquaint himself with Iris if she would let him. He wanted to be her friend again since she had been his best friend and he missed her. Can Iris who is the high school counselor allow herself to become friends with Seth when she really wants more?Iris is confused by her feelings towards Seth. His return did show her that she had no business dating Fellow teacher Troy Headly when she only wants to be his friend. She just has to convince him of it. They work together when a case of bullying comes up in the high school. What must they do to protect the kids involved? What are their legal responsibilities?

An excellent small town romance
What Robyn Carr does in her warm hearted, feel good novels of small town life is create a story and a world which is more realistic than many similar authors but still provides what the reader wants. In this story we have Seth. He is a new police officer in town who has lost his football career because of a car accident for which he was partly responsible. Seth is scarred by this, and slightly disabled, but there is more to him than his history. He is a genuinely good man who wants to make up for some of the stupidities of his past and to make his father proud of him. He and Iris have a past revolving around an incident on prom night which has a different significance for each of them.Iris is a guidance counsellor at the local High School. She really cares about the kids but she does everything properly and follows the correct procedures. She is a sensible woman who just cannot make herself have romantic feelings for her teacher friend Troy despite his best efforts. She forgives Seth for what happened in the past but she doesn't want to start again with him just in case it happens again.Iris and Seth and nice, good and sensible people. They develop a romantic relationship built on the spark between them but don't fall instantly and insanely in love as is the case in too many romances. They live in a small town amongst other people who play a part in the story - you will recognise some of them from previous instalments in this series but you really don't have to have read any others for this book to make sense. They face up to a couple of challenges as a result of their job and they behave properly and don't get all heroic or maverick. The author and her characters accept that not everything in a small town is wonderful and not every situation will end happily but there is enough in the way of happiness here to please any romance reader. This is a light romance with some lovely characterisation and it is written with a wry humour. The situations faced by the characters are serious and realistically represented but the story is about overcoming. If you like small town romances then this is a treat.

Good read
I enjoyed the story it was well written and I liked all the character's. The book is value for money considering I have paid o lot more for other books and they have bern shockingly terrible. I have read other books by this author and so far have enjoyed them all.

The Homecoming
Loved this story and the previous books, however, the use of the F word totally puts me off. Don't see the need in a romance novel!! Otherwise I would have given it 4 stars. Not sure if I will continue the series

Ok
I enjoyed this book but I was disappointed that there weren't more of the old established characters in it. However, parts of it were fun and, as always, the characterisation was good and the storylines were ok.
