Out of box review
This review is written before any range use. With that said, so far, these are great they function exactly as expected. The Bluetooth connects easily and functions perfectly. Regarding Bluetooth the complaints I see the most are that the sound quality is poor. Since these are not designed to be music headphones I think the negative reviews on this part are unfair. On mine, I turn the Bluetooth all the way up and can hear the music perfectly well and depending on the song and how it was recorded and released I sometimes need to turn it down because it’s to loud. No there is no deep bass on these little speakers but where there is a bass line in the music you can hear it just fine. Calls come in loud and crystal clear as well. Pretty sure that’s what the Bluetooth was created for anyway, as good as the quality is on calls. I tested the range on the Bluetooth within the walls of my house. Leaving my phone in one room (door closed) and walking down the hall to the furthest room approximately 30 feet away I never lost connection, not even a stutter. And concerning the sound enhancement and noise canceling? The sound enhancement is great, feels like I have super hearing. I don’t have the best hearing to begin with, no where near the point of needing hearing aids, but I’ve suffered a little loss over the years I’m sure. Concerning the loud noise canceling and the passive noise blocking from the padding on the cans? That also works great the padding alone blocks a lot of sound. I banged two pots next to my ears while using the noise canceling and heard nothing other than the little bit of noise that made it through the padding itself. So that part is at least functioning properly and I am assuming would do it’s job just fine at the gun range or out hunting. While hunting you could no doubt hear even the little tiny creepy crawlies without any issues. Would never go hunting without them. Over all these are great, glad I bought them. But shipping on these was the worst! I don’t know the reason but it took 2 months to get them. It claimed before purchase that this would be case, so I knew what to expect. But that’s still terrible imo. Especially since now I see the shipping is only a few days wait so yeah that sucked. I like the profile, weight, comfort, protection, they seal around the ears nicely and the amount I paid for them was I bit high but not out of control. I’m a cheapskate to begin with so everything is overpriced to me. But IMO around $80.00 is fair for these. Also no complaints on the quality of the build at all.

Great muffs. Electronic amplification is awesome.
I really like these muffs and believe they are among the best under $100. The electronic amplification in then works fantastic, the muffs are very comfortable, and they stow very small. The Good: The muffs electronic amplification is BETTER than what I can hear with my ears (and I have good hearing as result of always using hearing protection combined with my young age). They are so good that I have been able to hear deer eating dried corn from 25 yards away. The muffs fold down very small (walker also sells a nice travel case that I acquired at my local range for only $10 that I recommend). The muffs are relatively comfortable. Nowhere near as comfortable as something like Bose QC headphones; but for earmuffs, especially slim ones, I have no complaints. The controls are fantastic. One single knob turns then on as well as adjusts the volume, while a secondary knob adjust the bluetooth volume. Now for the bad: The Bluetooth is laughable. The connection breaks very easily if you aren’t careful. The playback quality is awful to the extent that I really don’t enjoy using them to listen to music while wearing the muffs. That being said: I do find it very useful. I really like how the muffs handle Bluetooth pairing. When you turn the muffs on, Bluetooth is off by default. If you want it on or decide you want to activate it later, you simply tap the Bluetooth button on the side of the muffs and it autopairs extremely quickly and reliably. I never have issues connecting my phone to the muffs and I never even have to touch my phone, the muffs do all the work automatically. While the Bluetooth audio quality is poor (to be fair, I consider myself somewhat of audiophile, so you might not think it’s quite so bad, but nonetheless taper your expectations), I find it very useful if you happen to need to take a phone call while at the range or doing any activity where you want to protect your ears. It’s also great for listening to podcasts or instructional videos as one typically doesn’t care about audio quality for those types of things. As far as blocking sound, I find these to be not quite enough for shooting 9mm or .556 at an indoor range (though they handle both flawlessly outdoors). I have always also worn earplugs inside my muffs even with my old clunky 3M optime -30db muffs. Fortunately, these are comfortable to wear ear plugs with as there is plenty of room inside the muffs and if you turn the electronic amplification up, I have no trouble having conversations even with earplugs inside the muffs. While these aren’t perfect, I think they are great for the price. I have recommended them to many friends (several of which bought some after trying them). I plan on buying an extra pair for guests soon. I do recommend.

AMAZING ABILITY
This "Active" sound reduction is better than my top-end Bose at cutting out unwanted shop noise and better than my Bose Hearphones when it comes to picking up ambient sounds like speech and music and delivering adjustable sound level to my ears.(That's correct, Bose makes earbud-type sound amplifiers for guys like me, who blew out their hearing years ago, and named them Hearphones-they have active mics to pick ambient sound. The Bose Hearphones can be adjusted to help my terrible hearing). That's a great quality, but it's the active sound cut-out that blew my mind when I tried them in my home shop, with tools like my drill press (motor screams), vacuum cleaner, ball peen hammer pounding on anvil.I've used the normal sound blocking ear covering protectors for years and they were OK, even though top brand, but NOTHING compared to this active protection. They come on "instantly" so even the hammering on an anvil was just a tapping sound, still heard, but at a nice, low level that is adjustable. With Bluetooth connectivity to my phone, I can listen to my favorite rock music but still move from machine to machine without interruption and without my ears ringing (yes, I've got terrible tinnitus) after I'm done.Short and sweet: these are incredible, so good that I am absolutely amazed.
