I think they will get better with age. Better to be snug than too loose and stretch to my foot.
I have to buy 4E shoes and will generally order both a 9.5 and a 10 just in case. In boots I automatically jump to a size 10. I have a high instep and need arch support too. I figured since they were an open style strap back that a 9.5 would be perfect.I have been buying Dunham for years because of their quality and comfort. They tend to cost a little more but they are worth it to me. If my feet are not happy, I am not happy. So I didn't think twice about ordering these sandals. Out of the box though they are a little snug. This was my first impression after working all day. So maybe my feet needed to rest overnight. I also had my dress socks on for the first fitting (in case I wanted to return them). I had to unstrap them completely to get them on. I was really unsure but liked the style so much I went all in and removed the socks. They fit a little better. I think the material on the inside of the sandal was grabbing the sock making it feel hard to get them on. Initially, my heel was almost over the edge of the foot bed in the back of the sandal and I was worried. Of course I hadn't really jammed my foot forward yet. Once I wiggled my foot and forced it in more my heel was completely on the foot bed. I took them off and decided to wait until the next day to give them another try.The next morning I put both sandals on and walked around the house on carpet and tile for about an hour or more doing the things I normally do before work. In that time the fit improved considerably and I knew I was not returning them. I really liked how I could feel the cool air on my feet as I moved about.I know I would not be able to wear these all day walking or standing knowing they lack that needed arch support, but I wouldn't let it stop me from doing these things. I just know at the end of the day I would know it.If you really need something to trek around in all day and want the added support for your arches and not a fan of the strap style back, check these out ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008M27BWI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ). I also bought these just because I wasn't sure which ones I would like more and these are definitely more closed in but they do offer more arch comfort, and you would walk all day and night in these.I bought the Dunham’s (and Timberlands) primarily to wear on beach based vacations (both locally and abroad) where at night you might want to go to some of the fancier restaurants that have dress codes and that don't allow flip flops or other open toe sandals. The build quality is no less than I'd expect from Dunham and I am sure I will have these a long time. The leather is soft and pliable and will only get better over time. The foot bed is not what I would call cloud like but then they don't claim to be either. But, it is not raw leather hard either. Overall, I would say for leather sandals they will break in nicely and will be butter soft in no time.I highly recommend these sandals if you want a dressier sandal that will last a long time, and the style is something you are used to (I was not) or might want to give a try.

Great Sandals
My husband has a very difficult time finding 4E wide shoes. He loves his Timberland Fisherman style sandals for the summer. He wanted me to purchase him a pair in dark brown...his 10.5 4E size was not available. In my search for an alternative to his Timberlands I found the Dunham brand and I read the wonderful reviews about these sandals. I was surprised to learn that they are made by our favorite sneaker company, New Balance. So we took a chance and ordered a pair. When they arrived my husband tried them on and kept them on for the rest of the day. At the end of day he said they were far more comfortable than his Timberlands, very light weight like walking on a cloud.....we are sold on these sandals/brand. Oh and did I mention, they are much more reasonably priced too, so a win all the way around.

Design flaw for the rear strap.
These shoes have a design problem. In order to wear them you need to loosen the back strap. Once worn the strap is prevented from being tightened all the way when on your foot. The shoes were loose and it was impossible to pull the strap tighter since it would not go through the buckle. I have similar shoes that have two straps, one for the back and one for the ankle which I have no problem with. They should have made the back strap able to fit completely through the buckle.

Men's sandal
This is a wonderful shoe but for some reason my toenails rubbed and I did not know I should order an extra 1/2 size. I didn't find that out until I wore them out to the park. Then I could not return them, of course. So I gave them to my brother in law who just loves them and walks quite a lot. It is a nice shoe but one would need to buy 1/2 size larger than their normal size.

A Quality Produc t
These shoes are everything I hoped for. The fit is perfect. They are light and extremely comfortable. They are very good looking, obviously made with quality material.I noted one review that said these sandals "squeeked" when you walked. Mine do not. My wife complains they are too quite. She can't hear me coming! The $109.95 price tag seems high. I bought them during the Father's Day sale and got 20% off. However if I need to replace these I would gladly pay $110.One word on fit, it was recommended to get a half size larger. I did not and I am glad I got my normal size.

all around perfect casual sandal
Bought these for my husband in 9EE. First thing we noticed was that they are super light weight. No dragging one's feet around in those sandals! Next, my husband noted that his toes were comfortable in the front, not stubbing against anything at all. Inside of the shoe is very soft, and the Velcro strap is easy to loosen and close again. Finally, while these sandals will be worn with shorts, they could also go with jeans or Khakis as they have clean lines and don't look lumpy or coarse. Great find if you have wide feet where selection becomes more limited.

Look good, fit good, well built, breath awesome, walking is not great
The build quality is good. It is great to find these in a wide size. They fit. My goal was something business casual that would breathe. My feet really overheat as I age. They meet those desires well. Except walking in them. Around the balls of my foot, I get sore. If I wear socks with them it isn't as bad, but, then my feet slide around in them. The other thing about walking in them on the sidewalks and streets of Denver is they pick up rocks. My other Chacos do as well. But I can lift my foot ninety degrees and shake it and usually clear it. With these I have to take them off every few blocks to clear the rocks that seem to stick in there better than they do in my chacos. So they look a lot better than chacos but they walk much worse.
