A great printer with lower pricing
I am quite happy with my ET-4800 purchase. From wirelessly connecting to my Mac to software installation to adding the ink, it was easy to set up. I feel you can't go wrong with this level of ink capacity. It holds so much ink without the bother and added expense of frequently replacing cartridges. I will never go back to a cartridge machine. I don't care who makes it! I've used my printer several times so far, and each time it has done a great job by giving me the colors and clarity that I expected. This is the first printer that I've owned that wasn't a front-feeder. I wasn't sure how I would like that, but I've found that holding the paper straight and then dropping it into the slot rather than placing it, gives the best result for paper alignment. For my needs, I have only used it one sheet of paper at a time. So if you are wanting to load several sheets at once, your loading experience may be different from mine. But just make sure that you do not load more than 100 sheets at a time, per the manufacturer's instructions. Also, be sure that the movable paper guides are in the correct spots for the size of paper being used, without any buckling. To date, I have not used the scanner, but it is definitely a feature that I did not want to be without, so I'm looking forward to using it. The display window, though small, is simple to follow along with, and I appreciate that the angle of the keypad can be adjusted. Working with the Epson Smart Panel app gives a bit more flexibility, particularly if you're not right next to your printer and want to check the ink levels or start a printing job. To use the app, be sure that you turn on your printer first and that both the printer and your device are set to the same wi-fi, so that the app can find your printer and you can begin operating it from afar. Once inside of the app, be sure to check out the "Other Features Menu" from the app's homescreen. There is a link to another Epson app that can be used to boost your creativity and streamline layouts for collages, and a colorful guide full of project ideas that outline everything that you need for each project and how to execute them. There's even a feature for sharing what you've scanned and submitting it as an assignment. This is something that you'd want to read more about to see if it is an applicable and helpful addition for you. You can use the search term, "google classroom in epson smart panel app," to find out more. There is only one downside that I have found at this point. The pull-out paper catching tray in the front feels flimsy. It seems out of place on an otherwise sturdy machine. But so far, I've had no problems with it. I just take my time pulling it out, flipping down the end, folding it back up, and pushing the tray back in. I figure if I baby it a bit, then all should be well. Overall, I really like the Epson ET-4800 as much as my ET-5170. I feel it performs well at an acceptable price point.

Great Printer with no Annoying Ink Subscription!
Note: This printer came with the oddest packing materials I've ever seen in my life. And you do NOT want to step on one of these late at night! It makes a LEGO brick underfoot feel good! The Epson EcoTank ET-4800 is a breath of fresh air in a world dominated by frustrating ink subscriptions and overpriced cartridges. Instead of forcing you into a monthly payment plan just to keep your printer functional, Epson gives you a massive ink reservoir that you refill yourself—no hidden fees, no sneaky auto-renewals, just straightforward printing.Performance & Print QualityFor a home or small office printer, the ET-4800 delivers solid performance. The print quality is crisp for documents, and while it’s not a professional photo printer, it handles color prints well enough for most everyday needs. The scanner works smoothly, and the automatic document feeder (ADF) is a nice bonus for scanning multiple pages.Ease of Use & SetupSetting up the printer is refreshingly simple. Filling the ink tanks is surprisingly mess-free, and once you’re up and running, you won’t be constantly swapping out tiny, overpriced cartridges. Epson includes a generous amount of ink in the box—enough to last thousands of pages—which is a game-changer compared to traditional inkjet models.Cost EfficiencyThis is where the ET-4800 really shines. The upfront cost is higher than a standard inkjet, but you quickly recoup that with the absurdly low cost per page. The ink bottles are much cheaper in the long run than cartridges, and you’re not held hostage by a subscription service just to keep printing.Potential DrawbacksIt’s not the fastest printer on the market, and the lack of duplex printing (automatic double-sided) is a small inconvenience. The display screen is tiny and not touchscreen, so navigating menus can feel a bit outdated. But if you’re prioritizing cost savings and reliability over bells and whistles, these are minor trade-offs.Final VerdictThe Epson EcoTank ET-4800 is a fantastic option for anyone tired of the traditional inkjet printer racket. No subscriptions, no constant cartridge swaps—just a reliable, cost-effective printer that does what it’s supposed to do. If you print regularly and want to save money (and frustration) in the long run, this is one of the best choices out there.

I don't recommend this printer.
I have a home office and do a lot of printing. For the past 8 years I used an HP Officejet 8720 and it finally crashed. I was looking for something to replace my HP with and saw this Epson ET-4800 that come with the fillable eco tanks, to supposedly save you money on ink. When I purchased it, the description stated that is had auto duplex printing which comes in handy with saving on paper usage. It does not. Manual only. The second thing I have a beef with is this so called "Eco Tank". I printed around 30 pages to get a feel on how the worked and how fast it was. I looked down at the tank to notice that it had dropped from full to 3/4 capacity after just these few prints. If this is the case, this will end up costing more than what I was paying for the "pricey" HP ink cartridges. To me, it seems like a rip off. Third issue is the plain paper capacity. 100 pages is too small of an amount and the paper stand in the rear of the printer is quite flimsy and doesn't support the paper properly and would in no way be able to hold 8.5x14 paper without is flapping over. This brings me to my last grip which about the overall flimsiness of the machine itself. To me, it just doesn't feel like a printer that would hold up to normal wear and tear. On top of the flimsy paper holder, the print catcher is much different. I was worried about breaking it off from the get go. There is no way it would be able to catch an 8.5x14 print without falling out. So, this is my opinion about the Epson ET-4800, and how I know that there is no way I'd ever consider buying it in the future.
