Cute! Especially for little penguin lovers.
I didn't know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised! So much so that I'm planning to purchase more Kate Toms Series books. The pictures are very imaginative and colorful with so many things to examine! The little penguins have all sorts of things that happen to keep them out of the action (one at a time) but then in a surprise they're all reunited in the end! One thing to note - The board pages in this book are NOT sturdy so it's best only for supervised reading or older toddlers.

Another Kate Toms Success
This may be a biased review because our family loves Kate Toms books, and our favorite animals are penguins. So I think we were destined to love this book.My boys love counting out the animals on each page. I would highly recommend to active listeners (kids who like to point and discuss while being read to). I don't think it's designed to be an interactive book, but it is one in our family.

Fun for kids and adults.
This is probably my second favorite book from Kate Toms, Itsy Bitsy Spider being my favorite of hers. It's a fun little story about 10 penguins. I like the hard pages as they stand up to abuse from your little ones.

just so so
The pages were all stuck together, and the story was lame. I definitely wouldn't purchase it again. I bought it based on other good reviews, so maybe I am missing something here, but the quality of the book pages was poor.

The illustrations are amazing and my son loves looking at and counting the penguins on each page. The books by Kate Toms are great, I already bought three of them off amazon, my son loves them!

counting penguins
I purchased this book to use as a work center for first graders, on recommendation of Debbie Diller. It rhymes, has good pictures and I think it is a good counting book for number sense development with young children.

Massively popular with my little boy
We first encountered this book on loan from my local library, but it was so beloved by my then 9 or 10 month old son that we had to buy him his own copy. The rhymes and rhythms are simple and enjoyable, and the penguins amusingly rendered. But the best thing about the book is, I think, the beautiful illustrations, which take the form of fabric collages. The designs are excellent - colorful but not too crowded - yet still with enough detail to keep my young son coming back and back and back again. "Dat! Dat!" as he himself would say, waving a finger in the air in the general direction of his bookshelf. We love the book and it is still a favourite nearly six months later.
