WASPcam 4K 9907 Action-Sports Camera, Black

I kayak fish and have always struggled with keeping gopro's charged while maintaining a water tight case. I jury-rigged several cases to charge the gopro while maintaining some semblance of water tightness, but after a good dunk in the ocean the gopro was shot. I randomly saw a youtube video of a kayak fisherman using the waspcam and turns out it was on sale for $40 on amazon!! Killer deal! I have since used the camera (and waterproof charging cable) and have found the quality to be pretty darn good. It hasn't been fully dunked yet, but it's been through some pretty heavy rains without any issue, and at this price I am not going to cry if it breaks.

This was a gift bought for our Christmas Eve white elephant gift game if you don't know the game you pick a gift if you've been drawn and number in either you can still give or P open new one no egg if it's already been open can be stolen three times after the third time it's the person who stole it's for Keeps this was a big head I could not believe that they were fighting over this literally before they even can steal it after that he got stolen 3 times very fast and people were still trying to steal it even though they knew they could so far grade yet awesome price we'll see the quality but I'm sure it'll be good Vine

March 2021 UPDATE: The last camera I purchased suddenly stopped working. When I opened the cover I found the battery had swelled up so much that it crushed the sd card and damaged the circuit board of the camera. Extremely disappointed and angry if I'm honest. I lost some great footage that day. I will definitely stop recommending this camera from now. ====================================================================== Original Review: First off, I own both generations of the GoPro Session camera. I was looking for something very inexpensive that could replace them since use them as dashcams. Plus I have warrantied both of them because the internal battery leaked (205°F inside a car under Texas heat). I had no preconceptions about what would replace them. I stumbled upon this Wasp camera when Fry's had a good deal on it (forty bucks plus tax). I first used it as a rear dashcam. Hardwired to power, of course. Good, I thought but I only had a 32GB card at the time, and with "4K" enabled this meant it got full pretty fast. So I replaced it with the 128gb card from the GoPro. The Waspcam could not recognize the card at first, but I just thought to try to get it to format the card. Low and behold, it formatted the card just fine, and now it reported a 10 hour recording capacity time. After 6 months of traveling, I am very pleased with this camera. Sure it's not true 4K, but it's a damn good quality picture. I've taken road trip videos with this mounted to the roof of my car, hardwired to power without the side cover on, and it's never gotten wet inside with rain. I bought a second one to finally replace the front dashcam. I honestly feel like I can depend on this camera to get the job done. More than my GoPros that shutdown when they overheat. The Waspcam has never done that, under the same exact conditions. I have not tried the WiFi feature, since I'd just use it as a viewfinder. The LCD screen takes care of that just fine.

I have purchased nearly 20 action cams from several manufacturers over the past 8 years and use these as my workhorses day-in and day-out. I use them almost exclusively for capturing my day on the H2O fishing. I fish the professional musky tournament trail and also capture non-tournament trips with these cams. I have a YouTube channel, but do not have a fishing show, so I never even use the 4K option. I own three (3) and have NEVER had one fail on me under any circumstance. I have beat the living hell out of these things and they have not failed me yet. I am docking the WASP 9700 one star simply due to their use of a proprietary power cord, but Apple's been doing this forever, haven't they? The cords are solid. The cams are solid. Many of my friends in the angling community have also purchased these cams and have had nothing but great experiences with them. I don't need an app to capture my footage. Point, shoot, edit. Pretty simple really. If you can't figure this stuff out, I don't know what to tell you.

The camera is very difficult to articulate and access. The silly cork style access to the SD card is unrealistic and the action buttons are too hard to press with no clarification that is plainly visible, especially in a hurry. Over-priced, big time, in fact the unit compared with similar ones we bought that were less than $60. These guys are laughing all the way to the bank, don't be a sucker. GoPro is all over this thing and beats the snot out of it without effort.

I've used this while swimming, diving in both salt water and fresh water and love the results. Use it to record my son's various sports games. Very satisfied with the results and highly recommend.

Records if plugged into power very good.

really crappy way to Secure and remove the memory card

Camera works fine, takes good pictures. The charge cord that came with it failed after second time using it, call the help number sending out a new cord no problem, no charge. The manual could use some updating, very poor and incomplete instructions, good thing they have a help line, going to need it. After registering the camera with Coba Electronics they sent me a coupon to buy from their site only to tell you at the end of the order they don't sell to Canada.

Great camera but no app for it as it’s not supported anymore. Doesn’t work as advertise
