Does "50 mg" per tablet mean 50 mg of elemental zinc? or 50 mg of zinc guconate per tablet?

It says 50mg as Zinc Gluconate and 333% of other ingredients. So we still don’t know how much of the 50mg is elemental zinc and it’s possible that if you spoke to a customer service person at the company he/she doesn’t know what elemental zinc means.

These two zinc ‘chelates’ both have the element zinc attached to different acids. The picolinic and gluconic acid components are both considered mineral transporters; which means that the mineral does not have to be removed from a food matrix by stomach acid and digestive processes, nor does it subsequently need to be acidified for absorption. In essence, these are predigested and more bioavailable forms than in food matrices containing binding anti-nutrients such as phytates or in forms like zinc oxide. The isolation and acidification processes have already been done by the mineral supplier of zinc gluconate, mimicking digestion. Zinc picolinate, developed by USDA scientists, has been shown to be better absorbed than either zinc citrate or gluconate forms in one double-blind multiple-crossover trial.
