seperate out the parts
Other reviewers were correct when they said that the item was a little darker than the picture. However, that was not a deal killer for me. It arrived undamaged and brought into my living room. The delivery date was quite a ways out there and once I figured out who the shipper was, a phone call got it to me 1 day earlier. This was holding up the install of a flat screen TV.Only complaint about the Credenza is that Sauder had mis-marked one of the panels making it a C rather than A. With the directions, (nice booklet), it was easy to figure it out because of hole placement etc.Again not a deal breaker. HIGHLY recommend that you open all the parts bags and divide the many different types of screws etc into small bins-it made it so much easier for assembly time without having to sort through the huge amount of parts. This is a heavy piece of furniture and is made of pressboard but again for 250 bucks I expected nothing else.I have used and loved Sauder products in the past-

Sauder meets Expectations.
I am 77 years old & have assembled probably over a dozen Sauder products. I paid an extra $20 to have it delivered to the family room where it will be assembled & be used because it is very heavy. The fit & finish which is always evident AFTER the product it completed is excellent! Being a perfectionist, I always marvel how about almost anyone could assemble this product & get quality results because of the accuracy of the predrilled holes. I found the trickiest step was putting the 3 pieces on the bottom. You might want to place the product on its top during this step of assembly. It is made mostly of particle board, except for the top & front pieces; therefore, it is very heavy so you will need two people to move it. READ THE DIRECTIONS (MOSTLY PICTURES) CAREFULLY! If you are a novice you might need help from someone experienced in putting these self-assembly products together or mechanically inclined. YOU CAN DO IT!

Wood TV Stand
After reviewing over one hundred different wood TV stands, I was able to make the right choice for my specific needs. I wanted a TV stand with an oak finish to match my solid oak bedroom furniture, and it needed to hold a 59-inch Plasma HDTV. The Sauder Carolina Oak Finish Wood TV Stand was exactly what I wanted: It had the perfect dimensions to fit in the corner of my bedroom and allow optimum viewing height of my new HDTV. In addition, the space allowing up to four electronic devices (DVR, Blue Ray, DVD recorder, etc.) to fit on shelves below the HDTV, and the generous storage space were the reasons for my purchase. This is an attractive, solid, heavy piece of furniture. One should not be overwhelmed about the plethora of wood pieces, fasteners and hardware needed to assemble this stand. If you lay out all the parts, which are clearly marked or identified, and you follow the instructions exactly as written, this stand can be put together in a few hours. I highly recommend the Sauder Carolina Oak Finish Wood TV Stand.

Decent TV Stand
We were looking for a decent TV stand at a low price, and not an exceptional piece of furniture. This is it. I'd guess it's actually particle board with a laminated or plastic that looks like oak finish. The unit is a bit darker than pictured but we think it looks good. Oh, and be warned, there are about 200,000 parts (ok, just a bit of hyperbole) to assemble. I'm patient and good with tools, but it still took about 2 hours to assemble. I'm pleased to report that there were no missing parts and everything lined up properly. We first bought a more expensive unit and it was poorly assembled; shelves were warped and joints didn't hold. The Sauder was cheaper, looks much more attractive, and is decent lower end furniture. I'd consider buying something else from them in the future.

Nice piece of furniture.
As a rule, I am not a big fan of particle board furniture. When I bought a new TV, I wanted an oak stand to put it on. However, the stand cost more than the TV. So I decided to take a chance and purchased this TV stand from Sauder. I have to say, it is a great stand. Well engineered, no parts missing, directions were clear and easy to follow. All pilot holes lined up perfectly. Seems very sturdy and looks great. And it cost 1/3 the cost of a solid oak stand. All in all, I am very pleased. They only suggestion I would make is Sauder include a small touch-up pen.

The item arrived in excellent condition, no dents or dings
The item arrived in excellent condition, no dents or dings. After double checking all the labeled pieces and hardware, I reread the the instructions twice. Following the instructions carefully and working slowly, I assembled the credenza by myself and only needed help to stand it upright and move it into place. The only mistake I made was with the simulated wood cardboard back...there is a correct top and bottom position. There are four access holes in the cardboard for various wires and cables, one for each of the shelf partitions. If not properly aligned, as in my case, you wind up with two of the holes behind the drawers. I didn't realize that until most of the backing had been nailed into place. It was no big deal as there were still two access holes available. Other than that, it went together without a hitch and looks great. Sturdy, with plenty of space for dvd, vcr, etc. and storage.

Nice TV stand but you get what you pay for.
Although most of the parts of this TV Stand are laminated with a thin veneer that might be wood, and looks like oak. Only the drawer fronts, doors and top and bottom fronts are solid oak. But it does look nice once it's all together. HOWEVER... if I had known that this piece of furniture would have taken TWO entire days of WORK to put together, I would have spent much more to have purchased a unit that was inn one piece or already put together or purchased this already put together for the few hundreds of dollars extra it might have cost. My time is worth more than spending 2 days putting this thing together. Once it was done, it's a nice TV stand, even though I would have liked a unit that was completely solid oak and would have paid for it. You get what you pay for.
