The Doula Business Guide: Creating a Successful Motherbaby Business

I found this book quite useful. I have had past business experience, I personally would have liked a more thorough explanation about non-profit pathways and volunteer options. It definitely gives one some general ideas and guidance about the ways that your doula business can take.This would definitely be an irrepplaceable book for someone newer to the doula/business world. You would still need to do a level of your own research as well as establishing necessary contacts to be successful.A good buy in the event that you just want the basics or you want confirmation on the direction that you are taking.NOTE: I submitted my information for the offers in the back of the book and didnt receive anything. This book is really fantastic and I recommend it to anyone who is a Doula or wants to become a Doula. I took my Birth Doula training from Patty at her center in Ann Arbor, MI and I can personally say that this is a woman who is full of knowledge and has a lot to offer and teach. Starting any career or business is hard work and no this is not a complete guide to running a business BUT it is a very comprehensive book on what a business looks like for a doula. Great info and I suggest that if you are considering becoming a Doula you start with this book first.

The information that Patty has packed into The Doula Business Guide is amazing, and this is an absolutely invaluable resource for me as I get started with my doula business. Patty is SO encouraging, and hits on so many of the issues that have crossed my mind in considering every aspect of becoming a professional doula -- on both the business side of things as well as on the personal.This will be read, and re-read, and resourced (Lord willing) for many years to come.

This is a great book that every doula should read to learn the "business" side of running a doula business. Lots of good tax tips, advertising ideas, and practical suggestions to be successful as a doula.

I think this is a great book for a doula who wants to really hit the ground running. I learned a lot about procedures and rules and where to go for more help. A lot of great information.

I think this guide has some great doula resource tips in it.I did have an objection to one section of the book--since it is kind of sensitive subject about child abuse, etc. Really, the parents should always be approached first about anything because something that might look like abuse to you may just be a bug bite or cut or sore. Always talk to the family first. It will be the best for everyone or a trusted friend of the family. We should always remember a child is going to be happier with his parents.

I am working on my certification and hope that I can use the tips in this book to make it a successful business as well as a passion.

Has a lot of helpful tips on making your doula business a good one. Many things I didn't think about before reading.
