K-400H-040-T5 PerforMAX Fill Valve and 3-Inch Flapper Toilet Repair Kit, Multicolor

OEM fill valve on my Gerber toilet would fail to run and fill the holding tank intermittently after a flush, so it was time to replace it. The Fluidmaster has very straightforward installation instructions, it's about a 10 minute job at most. Save yourself the $350-$400 plumber bill and replace the fill valve yourself...most 3rd graders could probably handle the installation of a new fill valve and flapper. The adjustable water flow is a nice bonus but most will probably find the max setting is the best option. The flapper is nice as well....seems to operate more smoothly than the 3rd-party Korky flappers I've used in the past. Just make sure you have a bucket handy and drain the holding tank as much as possible before removing your old fill valve, or you'll be mopping up a lot of water. Overall, easy replacement, reasonably priced, no complaints.

This product was an easy install and works well. Like many, many people here I ordered the 3" flapper model and my toilet has a 2 inch flapper. I've replaced a lot of these over the years and didn't know a 3" flapper even existed. I ended up just throwing the one that comes with it away and ordering a 2" one. I understand it's my fault for ordering the wrong one but since so many other reviewers had the same issue I think they should update the description to make it clearer there are different versions of this unit.

Works as expected and easy to install

Came with a very clear, multilingual instruction booklet. Followed the steps, everything works great and the installation was a breeze.

Replaced an American Standard old ballcock flush valve, super easy to install and works well. The flapper was too big though. Pro tip, use CLR or equivalent to clean tank - let it sit for 24 hours.

Works fine, decent instructions. But the one it replaced was nearly silent, and this one fairly noisy when refilling.
