Great for getting kids up hills when their little legs get tired
Works very well. As mentioned in the product description, not recommended for flats or downhills; I can vouch for that. Up hill though, they come into their own and can really extend your cycling range if you're bringing children along on their own bikes.

Bring Dogs and Kids Along
Great for running, biking, and kick scootering with our energetic 30 lb sheltie-poodle mix and 28 lb mini schnauzer. Trying to bike or scooter with a dog on a standard nylon leash can be hazardous, as an unexpected change of speed or direction can topple the rider and/or create harsh jerking for your dog buddy. The tow rope creates enough give for us to stay balanced on the bike or scooter, but has enough resistance to keep our pups from bolting in random directions when they see a squirrel or whatever. If I give the command, the sheltie-poo will also tow *me* along when the street is flat. The bungee action makes that smoothe, too! We both have a blast (he seems psyched to be praised for pulling on a leash) and it's one of the few activities that truly tire him out. ***Please note*** my dog has a sport harness made for pulling weight. To be safe and humane, please DO NOT bike etc with a dog tethered to a regular neck collar. Friends don't choke friends for fun. (...At least not without consent and a safe word, but doggos can't do either of those, so please use the right rigging!)The tow rope works for family bike rides too. Kids can get whiney when their legs are tired and you're not close to your destination yet. I had tried numerous times to awkwardly stick my arm out and push them, but this never ended well. We've had multiple "protests" in which one or more children declare themselves unable to go on. The tow rope lets parents contribute leg power to tired kiddos. Make sure your kid has a solid grasp of steering and balance, though. Especially if you have an electric bike and --ahem-- don't realize that you're towing Tired Kid faster than they can usually pedal themselves. Tired Kid may or may not panic and use their brakes, then boomerang toward your back tire. Or so I assume. ;)

Very useful to keep kids interested in mountain biking
I strongly recommend this device, or any device that can be used to tow the kids going uphill. The main point of these devices is to keep kids entertained, force them to still pedal and keep balance, while not being stuck and lose hope if they cannot climb up.In our case our kid has strong legs, but there are some uphills that can be long or technical, and that is when this thing comes in very handy. We got the green, which is very springy and has more force than the red one. Maybe for little kids the red one is better, but we got this so we could use it for longer when the kid grows up, or maybe with some inexperienced adult.

Strong bungie, almost too strong for kids.
The green version is a strong bungie. I got it to help my bigger kids up hills. The red kids version showed really small children in the pictures, so I went with the green for my 7 and 10 year olds. I pulls them hard, so they end up biking next to me up hills. They don't weight enough to keep it extended after we get moving. I bet the red kids version would have been better even for older kids.
