Comprehensive heart rate monitor
Directions were easy to follow, quick to set up and get started. I liked that the Bluetooth connection works very well and consistently. The device comes with two straps, which is handy. The monitor clips well to the adjustable strap.Readings are relatively quick to synch with the phone, although you need to wait a bit longer for the graphs to be processed. It automatically uploads afterwards. The price point is actually higher than other solutions out there. I liked having the option to be able to monitor my heart rate continuously; however, the ECG looks very small on the phone and it is a bit fiddly to move across as you can only scroll 20 seconds at a time.It is pretty comprehensive, it will tell you % time spent on various heart rate zones, average heart rate, strain, beathing rate, heart rate variability and step cadence as well as % of heart beats that have a normal pattern vs abnormal.Interestingly enough, when I pushed myself (did an eft test on my bike which should absolutely leave you spent), it was reassuring to see that my heart did not show any strain even when pushed to max. However, for a few days earlier this month, I got irregular heartbeats when I was resting when I felt my heart rhythm was out of sync. The device captured those. However, sometimes it is hard to see what is wrong as the beats seem regular but there is a marker on the ECG.Generally pretty happy with the device. A couple of improvement points I would suggest are 1. better integration with Apple so that ECG loads up to apple health profile 2. Ability to export data / print, especially the graphs from mobile.Btw it is possible to email yourself ecg graphs in pdf from the web platform.

An essential exercise health monitor – period.
I road-bike several times a week in the UK – and I discovered (and monitor) a heart condition with the Frontier X.In this post-covid era, in my view, this is an essential bit of health & fitness kit for exercise. It’s not really a heart rate monitor – its way, way more. For many people this could be a lifesaver – given the prevalence of hidden heart issues these days.Bottom line - it monitors “heart strain” (in many different forms), and the strap can be set to buzz when a various limits are reached. There’s also a super-easy smartphone App and a PC dashboard that records all the data – adding in simple traffic-light markers for stuff that may need attention. You don’t need to be a cardiologist to use this strap.Physically – its just the same as any other heart rate strap. The difference is in the signal processing – it picks up an actual hi-res ECG, not just a heart rate.I think it’s a world first for this type of device. None of the wrist-based ECG monitors come close in terms of signal quality and supporting software and analytics. Picking up the signal from next to the heart is the best way to do this.On the one hand – there’s peace-of-mind, knowing nothing is wrong with the ticker and there are some really good training metrics embedded in their software as well. It fully hooks up to Strava, Garmin Connect, Training Peaks, etc. (Outputs .fit files for auto-sync to those platforms). On the other hand – it can identify hidden heart issues (flagged in amber and red on the App and Dashboard) – and allow them to be escalated to the medical profession. In my case, I can live-stream ECG during a long bike ride to my cardio guy (via a smartphone Bluetooth data-link). Some of these hidden heart issues can only be seen after several hours of hard exercise (again, my case, ventricular tachycardia @ 150 bpm). Sometimes you just can’t see this stuff in a lab stress-test.(It records a bunch of stuff which the software sorts out, these include (for techies out there) – full ECG, ST depression (heart strain), QTc, respiration rate, HRV, breathing rate, body shock, step cadence, and performs a load of arrythmia analysis on the data)Once diagnosed – this bit of gear can keep an eye on the heart rate rhythm during ongoing exercise. Visibility and condition management is like night & day vs. a standard HR monitor. There’s simply nothing else like it on the market just now. It’s in no way a replacement for a cardio guy if you have issues – but it can make subsequent training much safer. And chances are that if you have any chest / heart concerns - this could be the first step on the road to getting it nailed. As a bolt on – I opted for their “ Frontier Heart Program” – v. useful as those guys have a cardiac background – but they also understand the dynamics of a proper training regime. Fairly unique to find those skillsets in one place. So, all-in-all, an outstanding bit of kit, and I wouldn’t be without it. It’s a huge step forward for exercise safety generally and better outcomes for those with heart conditions.(and their support team actually respond quickly & efficiently to queries). Happy Trails Folks.

Product keeps stop working. First it was the device and now it is the app.
Had lots of problems with the device, which they eventually replaced only for the app to stop working. This is a fault with the app which they are fixing, but cant give a date so I cant use the product and they have closed my complaint!. The product for me is not fit for purpose. I use a pixel 7 pro phone and if I am having problems I would expect everyone with that phone to experience the same problems.
