Samsonite quality and durability
It's made of high-quality, durable material that's very water repellent. Zippers and stitched seams are excellent and so far have lasted a year with no issues. I will say the first single-zipper front compartment is a pain in the butt to open with one hand because it's rounded and stops moving as the canvas material bunches up. My backpack has been in Seattle downpours and everything inside stays dry. The laptop compartment is nicely padded but steals room from the main compartment making it narrow at the bottom. With the laptop in, along with other minor stuff in various compartments, fitting an object like a 1-quart lunch container is nearly impossible. I bring a lunch every day so it can be a battle getting it to fit. It has several compartments of varying sizes to fit all your stuff and two water bottle pockets so that's nice. The straps are adjustable and very comfortable. If they would make the bottom of the main compartment a little more expandable, it's definitely a 5-star product.

Overall great back, I'm just being hard on it because it could be perfect...
Shipping was very quick, and the build quality of the bag overall is good. However I think it could have been designed a bit better... Although it does stand up, it does so only barely. It likes to lean forward and this has caused it to tumble off a chair or car seat on occasion. The laptop area is isolated and secure enough but there is no padding on top of the air chamber at the bottom, and that whole area just seems kind of floppy to really secure a laptop. The bottle pockets aren't really stretchy enough, they seem to be designed for 16.9 oz disposable plastic bottles. The bottle I've been carrying for the last 10 years is a 24oz aluminum camping bottle, a little under 2.5" in diameter and if the main pocket of the bag is near full it can be hard to get the bottle into the pocket, and even when not near full it usually takes two hands so not vey convenient. Also the glasses or small electronic pocket at the top of the main pocket tends to just get in the way of accessing the main pocket if anything heavier than sun glasses are stored in it. It sags quite a bit into the main pocket, getting in the way if you don't unzip the main area all the way, and requiring two hands to zip the main pocket back up. Which is a shame as the zippers are excellent and in most cases can be zipped up one handed. My last complaint (yup just one more) are the web bits that keep the pockets from opening too far, this bag is pretty deep and particularly on the front pocket, they could have given another inch or two to allow easier access to the items that have sunk down to the bottom. Anywho, it may sound like I don't really like this bag, but these are just nitpicks, sort of a heads up to any one interested. Truly over all this is a nice bag, and it is very comfortable (I carry on average about 28 lbs daily). It's pretty compact, and all my daily items fit, so I am pleased. But because I do like it I felt I should be hard on it, because it could have been the perfect bag, if not for these few issues.

Nice backpack with a lot of great features, pretty comfortable
I was really happy with this backpack while it lasted. I bought it on whim without doing much shopping, but I can definitely say I made a good choice. The size and layout of the pack are great for someone in school. There is plenty of space for books, folders, notes etc. There is also space for writing utensils and whatnot. One part I really adore is the gel padding at the bottom of the laptop compartment. It does a great job of protecting your laptop when you set the bag down. It prevents the laptop from absorbing the shock that it normally would from contact with the ground. The pack was very comfortable to wear. The straps have ample cushioning and fit well. The back of the pack has a thick layer of padding that was very comfortable and breathable, which I enjoyed a lot.My only complaint about the bag is that it tore apart pretty badly after about 1.5 years of use. I'll admit that I can be a bit rough on my backpacks, but at this price I thought it should be able to handle it. One of the straps eventually tore completely off, which I ended up using duct tape to repair. Then, the outer material started to tear along one of the zippers at the top, which eventually caused the zipper to start snagging and made the zipper break. At this point I couldn't use the bag anymore.I wish it hadn't broken, as I really enjoyed the backpack. Unfortunately it was a bit too pricey for me to buy again (broke college student). However, I think the bag is great as long as you aren't too rough on it.
