Easy to use and good quality.
I've used Ugreen product for a while and always found them to be good quality. This is no exception. This is a very useful SSD enclosure for your NVMe drives. I am personally using this so that I can keep a clone of the main drive that is in my PC. It fits my 2280 SSD without issue and with the provided thermal pad the case fits quite snugly - which is to be expected as the case is part of the cooling mechanism of the enclosure. The enclosure is easy to use. Just push the button to open the drive. Securely push your SSD into the socket and use the screw in the appropriate hole to secure the drive into place. Apply the thermal pad and then close the enclosure again. The drive is easy to transfer from one PC to another as it is simply connected to your USB socket. The enclosure is able to transfer data from the host to the drive inside the enclosure at a good speed. When used for a long time, transferring data the enclosure can get warm, but that is showing that it is transferring heat away from the SSD and into the enclosure. This helps keep your drive from overheating and extends its lifespan.

Perfect for externally mounting a new SDD so you can copy an existing SDD on you PC
I have bought UGREEN products before. Good Quality. This enclosure handles 4 different sizes of SDD: 2230/2242 /2260/2280. I needed an External SDD Enclosure because my old Micron 256 GB NVMe PCIe SDD on my Dell 8930 was running out of space. It was designated as my C: drive. I chose the Crucial P310 1TB 2280 SDD as a replacement. My Dell only has 1 PCIe SDD so I needed an External Enclosure, in which to mount the replacement Crucual P310 SDD. I could then copy my current C:drive, via Acronis True Image, to the Crucial P310. Because the enclosure has a USB3.2 connection it only took about 30 mins to copy the entire drive. Then I just had to remove my old Micorn 256GB SDD from my PC and replace it with the new Crucial P310 SDD, upgrading my SDD from 256 to 1 TB. No need to change the BIOS this way, simple plug and play. My Dell 8930 started up perfectly, no problems at all. I would recommend the Crucial P310 and also the UGREEN external enclosure, both available on Amazon.

A nice surprise
Brilliant enclosure for a spare NVMe drive. Comes with two short USB cables, which is perfect. The rubber cover makes the whole case feel sturdier and well protected from accident drops, yet keeping it compact. Ideal for keeping something like portable Linux OS with persistent storage on it as it will be very fast.

Fiddly and Hot.
I bought this UGREEN M.2 NVMe enclosure as a simple plug-and-play solution for an extra SSD. On paper it looked ideal: compact, no tools required, and portable. In reality, it turned out to be much more frustrating than I expected. The main issue is the mounting system. Instead of using a proper screw or latch, the enclosure relies on a tiny rubber grommet to hold the SSD in place. This sounds clever, but in practice it’s incredibly fiddly. I spent more time wrestling with that little rubber piece than I did actually using the drive. Aligning it while keeping the SSD seated in the connector is awkward, and if you don’t get it just right the SSD won’t sit properly. For something that’s meant to be “tool-free” and user friendly, it’s the opposite. Thermals are the next problem. The enclosure runs hot—very hot—during sustained transfers. The outer case gets uncomfortable to hold, and the SSD inside inevitably throttles when moving large files. That means speeds drop off quickly if you’re doing big copies (like videos or backups). A thermal pad between the SSD and case would help, but UGREEN doesn’t include one. Once installed, the enclosure does work. It connects over USB-C, speeds are fine for short bursts, and it’s compact enough to carry around. For occasional use—moving a few files here and there—it’s passable. But if you plan on using it regularly, or transferring large amounts of data, the poor mounting system and heat buildup become real drawbacks. Pros: Compact and portable Works fine for light, occasional transfers USB-C connection, no extra power needed Cons: Awkward, fiddly rubber grommet instead of a proper screw mount Runs very hot under load, throttles on large transfers Not user friendly if you swap SSDs often Bottom line: It’s a budget enclosure that works, but it’s frustrating to set up and doesn’t handle heat well. If you just need something cheap for occasional light use, it’s serviceable. If you value ease of installation and consistent performance, spend a little more on an enclosure with a screw mount and proper cooling.

Helped me retrieve important files from a failing SSD!
Works as expected, at a great price! Fairly compact with a thoughtful rubber/silicone sleeve for protection. Comes with a USB-A to USB-C cable AND USB-C to USB-C cable, which is handy. Compatible with the M.2 NVMe Gen 4 SSD from my laptop, which was failing and no longer booting up windows, so I was relieved to find all my files were still there and retrievable (bar 1 corrupt file from a failing sector). Very fast transfer speed (dependant on your SSD read/write speed of course). Slightly warm to the touch, as to be expected, but it even comes with some pads to help with heat dissipation, which for my one-off purposes, I did not use. A useful tool to have in case of emergency, if your system uses a compatible SSD.
