Safety when cycling
Great bit of kit, I bought this after so many close calls with inconsiderate drivers. The radar function is brilliant. It picks up cars from around 50 metres behind. I have linked this to my garmin edge so when cars approach you get an audible “Bleep” and will show you on the screen how far behind and how many cars there are. The recording playback is crisp and sharp.on quieter roads you can ride two or three abreast knowing is any cars approaching will be picked up early enough for you to drop into single file. It’s an expensive bit of kit but I’ve used it for around 8 months and I wouldn’t go cycling without one. I opted for the radar with camera however, you can purchase just the radar which costs less.

Great piece of kit(light,bright/video)
Love this it is easy set up. Fantastic video footage, great light. Robust bit of kit, doesn’t snap into holder you lock it in so it isn’t going anywhere. Bought this as cars were coming very very close to me in fact one day I could touch the car, freaked me out, so invested in this. It’s great for warning you how many cars are behind you especially if you are coming up to a turn and need to move to centre line. You normally take a Quick Look over your shoulder but you can never tell how many cars are there, this tells you so you can adjust your speed and manoeuvre safely. You can add the Varia app on your phone or it will sync with a Garmin 830 which I have.

Garmin Varia RCT715
Fantastic piece of kit, love the radar which gives such a clear early notification of traffic approaching and can be easily controlled from your garmin head unit 👍

Mostly works well
The unit is compact but heavy as it has a good capacity battery and radar unit. The app for smartphone is pretty basic and not particularly intuitive to use. I have not tried it out on the road as I have a head unit from the same manufacturer. The unit is simple and fast to pair with the latter, the warnings of traffic behind are clear and accurate. The camera is clear enough to show car number plates legibly, and can be set up to record in several modes or be switched off completely. When set to record only when radar is activated, one ends up with a lot of footage of empty roads. On setting off on a bike with knobbly tyres, it gives several false positives as it seems to pick up the rear tyre as a possible threat! It's a bit annoying but these stop after a short while, this does not happen on smooth road bike tyres, but I guess it was designed with road bikes in mind. It's expensive, but is a nice bit of kit to have if you can afford it.

Amazon crap System.
I have cancelled the order and gone directly to Garmin UK. Their way of payment is much easier; yours is way too tricky, and I don't trust Amazon anymore. The product is great, but Amazon's payment system sucks!

5 stars for a reason
read a lot about this as its a lot of money to spend , but in the end its got all 3 radar camera light hence RCT used it for the first time yesterday and its unbelievably good !!!! the radar alarms at bikes let alone cars coming from well over 100 metres plus away the light is bright as hell and when downloading the footage via air drop it took literally seconds to do not the faff id read about im no IT genius but i managed to download as many clips as i wanted as i say by airdropping them to my phone by taking the card out and putting it into an adapter couldn't be easier the piece of mind with the radar = very impressive bit of kit. worth every penny especially handy for those solo rides

FANTASTIC... until you need to download the footage for anything
This will record crystal-clear footage of everything behind you and has the battery life for century rides at 1080p resolution. Coupled with the already excellent traffic radar, it is next-level tech that does its job perfectly. BUT... I recorded a 90 minute ride yesterday and needed five minutes of footage for a police report (a crazy van guy is going to lose his job!). Problem is, this stores your entire ride in 30-second blocks, so for an hour and a half, you have 180 clips to sift through. Yes, they're time-stamped, but you're not going to remember the exact time when you're back home looking for the moment something happened. Viewing them is slow, despite my phone being right next to it and connected to it by wifi. If your Garmin head unit detects an incident, it automatically stores a 90 second clip showing just before and after, and stores that in a separate 'locked' tab, which would be great, but not all incidents are going to be detected, like this one wasn't. Anyway, the attached video shows the time it takes to download just one 30-second clip, I had to do this TEN times and you can't queue multiple for download, you must do them one by one. C'mon Garmin, sort this crap out BEFORE bringing an otherwise great product to market. Somebody on their team actively decided against making this process easier, as it is an obvious shortcoming and would have been brought up in development meetings.
